    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/22.3.26/styles/froala_editor.pkgd.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\">&nbsp;<link href=\"https://static.workforcenow.adp.com/mas/mdf-components/22.3.26/styles/froala_style.min.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text/css\"><div class=\"fr-view\"><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO BE A PART OF AN EMPLOYEE OWNED COMPANY!</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>DECKHAND</strong></p><p>Performs tasks associated with building and breaking tow, as well as towboat maintenance.</p><p>This position is for a Fleet Deckhand, we do require employees to live within 60 miles of the location applied for. &nbsp;</p><p>At this time we do not offer relocation assistance.</p><p><br></p><p>Physical and Mental Job Description:</p><p><br></p><p>The position requires climbing onto the tops of barges (height of approximately six feet), opening and closing</p><p>barge lids that weigh up to 125 lbs. (Note: Employees are instructed to seek assistance when lifting heavy</p><p>objects), and being able to walk safely on surfaces that can be wet or snow covered on occasions. Additionally,</p><p>employees are frequently required to climb ladders and steps a distance of up to 25 feet and walk long distances</p><p>throughout the work shift. Walkways are often narrow (approximately 2 feet in width) requiring good balance</p><p>and coordination. Working areas are tight, enclosed, and do not allow a great deal of space from time to time.</p><p>All employees must be able to wear personal protective equipment including a life vest, safety shoes, clothing,</p><p>and hearing protection.<br><br></p><p>Working conditions will vary with heat and cold extremes according to season. Additionally, the position</p><p>requires working a combination of days and nights throughout the schedule. Work surfaces may be slippery and</p><p>hazardous from time to time. Persons must be able to hear safety signals (such as horns, whistles, and the human</p><p>voice), and be able to read and understand safety manuals and other written material such as labels, warnings,</p><p>gauges and machinery instrumentation.<br><br></p><p>The position requires effective written communication in order to complete required daily reports. Effective</p><p>verbal communication is also necessary in order to allow the individual to give/receive instructions over a radio,</p><p>loudspeaker or person to person. Knowledge of hand signals will also be required. Position requires the ability</p><p>to remember and follow established procedures for maintaining and operating various diesel and gas engines,</p><p>generators, compressors and winches used in the operation.<br><br></p><p>In addition to the above, the deckhand position involves frequent heavy physical labor including:</p><p>1. Repeated bending, squatting, and use of hands and vision to perform detailed work;</p><p>2. Frequent lifting and carrying of rigging weighing up to 70 lbs. over short and long distances;</p><p>3. Strenuous pushing, pulling, and tugging of rigging from either a standing or kneeling position;</p><p>4. Lifting, carrying, and placing of pumps weighing up to 125 lbs. (Note: Employees are instructed to</p><p>seek assistance when lifting heavy objects);</p><p>5. Moving and carrying hoses weighing up to 70 lbs. by pulling, tugging, and dragging them long</p><p>distances; and</p><p>6.
