Join us in offering hope to the thousands of people waiting for a compassionate donor to give them another chance at life. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Our Organ Recovery Coordinators facilitate the evaluation, authorization, medical management, surgical recovery and distribution of organs for transplantation or research from deceased organ donors; works with other departments and hospital or transplant teams to facilitate the recovery of organs and tissues for transplantation or research.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This is a field-based position. Adhere to all policies and procedures in carrying out the responsibilities of this position.</p></li>\n <li><strong>Work 12 hour night shift (7PM-7AM) </strong></li>\n <li>Demonstrate support for our mission through annual participation in a donor family event</li>\n <li>Conduct evaluations of potential organ and tissue donors through review of hospital records to determine medical eligibility/suitability</li>\n <li>Document required clinical information in a clear and concise manner</li>\n <li>Communicate effectively with internal and external partners to facilitate the donation process</li>\n <li>Communicate effectively with families of potential organ and tissue donors to provide information and support</li>\n <li>Obtain and document authorization for organ and tissue donation</li>\n <li>Coordinate the clinical management of deceased organ donors</li>\n <li>Identify, document and communicate required clinical information to associated Gift of Hope staff, transplant center staff, and administrators</li>\n <li>Coordinate medical management of potential donors with anesthesia staff to ensure appropriate hemodynamic status while in the OR</li>\n <li>Coordinate the surgical recovery and distribution of deceased donor organs for transplantation or research</li>\n <li>Package and label organs for transplantation or research, according to policy</li>\n <li>Participate in departmental quality assurance initiatives, meetings, educational activities and required training as assigned</li>\n <li>Participate in training and mentoring new ORC staff and associated department staff as assigned</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education and Training Required </strong></p>\n<p>The following identifies the minimum education and training required to perform the essential functions of the job.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associate's Degree in healthcare related field (i.e. RN, RT, or other) with a minimum of 1 year work experience in a critical care setting.  Bachelor's prepared critical care nurse preferred. </li>\n <li>Other candidates may be considered on an individual basis at the discretion of management, dependent on aligned job experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Experience and Skills Required </strong></p>\n<p>The following indicates the minimum skills and experience required to perform the essential functions of the job.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in the delivery of critical care medicine</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with families of potential donors to present the option of organ and tissue donation</li>\n <li>Ability to achieve and maintain competency in clinical and technical skills required to facilitate organ and tissue donation and transplantation</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate the organ/tissue donation process to potential donor families and external partners</li>\n <li>Ability to develop and maintain proficiency with ICU/OR equipment</li>\n <li>Ability to function effectively with minimal supervision</li>\n <li>Ability to coordinate the activities of self and others in an environment where priorities change quickly</li>\n <li>Basic computer skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands </strong></p>\n<p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
