These alignments /measurements are used to develop cut line, align and install ships components and pair major modules.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The job requires the technician to determine the proper tooling for the job, move the tooling to the job, complete the measurements outlined on configuration controlled data sheets, while working safely with a high degree of accuracy.  The technician then turns the data over to Accuracy Control Representatives and works with them to confirm the solutions required.  Metrology Technicians routinely interface with Engineering, other Trades and Ship Management. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The successful candidate is preferred to have a solid background in surveying/machine shop dimensional inspection, Robotics, proven math skills, computer skills and good communication and interpersonal skills.  Applicant will need to become proficient in the use of optical alignment and Total Station equipment (similar to land surveying), establishing ships reference lines and planes, measuring in-process hull circularities, measuring and recording critical ship's dimensions and supporting production by providing profiles and locations of major components.  Applicant may need to assist Shipfitters with difficult structural layouts, support the accomplishment of dimensional control requirements (ACCP's) and participate in the QP Continuous Improvement Program as needed.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Click this link to learn more:</p>\n<p><strong><em>https://youtu.be/oirjeZxpF50</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This is an hourly position located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI. </strong></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>Required:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or equivalent</li>\n <li>Must meet one of the following criteria:\n  <ul>\n   <li>Relevant certification in Metrology</li>\n   <li>1+ year of experience and/or training in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Metrology, Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) or land surveying</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Able to read, interpret and work from complex manufacturing blueprints, technical manuals, shipyard procedures and test documents</li>\n <li>Ability to work all shifts, at heights, within confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required</li>\n <li>Individuals may be required to possess their own basic hand tools</li>\n <li>Willing to support occasional travel to vendor sites</li>\n <li>Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the Department of Defense</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Preferred:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associate Degree in either Surveying Technology/Engineering Technology</li>\n <li>Previous experience with Robotics</li>\n <li>Previous experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment</li>\n <li>Previous metal fabrication experience and/or military shipbuilding experience</li>\n <li>Military/Navy experience</li>\n <li>Strong math background with a working knowledge of geometry and trigonometry</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Possess strong mathematical, communication, computer and interpersonal skills</li>\n <li>Ability to work in a collaborative and team environment to meet organizational goals</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Qualifications</h2>Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting\n<h2>Environmental Attributes</h2>Cold, Dry, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside, Noise, Outside",
