Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
The specific duties undertaken by the Post-Doctoral Research Associate include the following:
develop, improve, and maintain models/software as a result of TUFFP/TUHWALP research
supervise day-to-day research conducted by M.S. and Ph.D. Petroleum Engineering students whose research is sponsored by TUFFP/TUHWALP
design and supervise the modification of existing test facilities and supervise subsequent research conducted on the test facilities
help prepare graduate students for presenting progress reports at semi-annual Advisory Board meetings of TUFFP/TUHWALP
conduct additional research on TUFFP/TUHWALP that does not involve graduate students
supervise the preparation of research publications to be presented at technical meetings and published in peer-reviewed technical journals
conduct seminars for graduate students on fluid flow
prepare publications based on TUFFP/TUHWALP research activities and present them at technical meetings
supervise the development of technical computer programs written by graduate students and based on models developed in research projects.
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Engineering Science, Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred:
A record of conducting and publishing theoretical and/or experimental research on topics such as multiphase flow in pipes, artificial lift, and flow assurance. Also preferred is prior experimental research experience in multiphase flow in pipes.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
A solid understanding of a programming language such as Matlab, Python, C++ or Fortran is essential.
Basic knowledge of basic instrumentation is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
