Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team in a well-established acute care hospital setting in New Orleans. This role is ideal for an RN with strong critical care experience who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
The ICU RN will provide advanced, patient-centered care to critically ill patients, utilizing clinical expertise, sound judgment, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuous monitoring of vital signs and clinical status
Administer medications, including IV drips, titratable medications, and life-support therapies
Operate and monitor advanced medical equipment (ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, etc.)
Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams
Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and critical care processes
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EMR systems
Ensure adherence to patient safety, infection control, and hospital protocols
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 1–2 years of ICU or critical care experience
Basic Life Support ( BLS ) certification required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS ) required
Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity patients
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ventilators, drips, and critical care protocols
BSN preferred
Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
CCRN certification (or willingness to obtain)
