    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Registered Nurse First Assist - Surgery and WP</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>MAIN FUNCTION:</p><p>Under supervision and direction of the operating surgeon, functions during the assistant role until</p><p>conclusion of the operative procedure. Does not concurrently function as scrub nurse. When not</p><p>working as a RNFA, works as scrub or circulating nurse as directed.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong><em>MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:</em></strong></p><p><strong><em>&nbsp;</em></strong></p><ul><li>Active RN license in the state of Ohio</li><li>A BSN is required for those who have not been practicing as a RNFA prior to 1/1/2020</li><li>CNOR certification</li><li>Successful completion of RNFA program that meets AORN standards for RN first assistant education program</li><li>Maintain a current AHA (American Heart Association) Healthcare Provider BLS and ACLS card</li><li>Must obtain and maintain Medical Staff credentialing</li><li>CRNFA certification completion and maintenance is <em>PREFERRED</em></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<strong>Must be able to respond to the hospital within <em>30 MINUTES</em></strong></p><p><strong>or be willing to stay on site while on call.</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</p><ol><li>Applies principles of asepsis technique according to standards.</li><li>Follows infection control according to current guidelines.</li><li>Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective action.</li><li>Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to patient care wherein RNFA assists.</li><li>Performs positioning, prepping, and draping of patient.</li><li>Provides hemostasis by clamping blood vessels, coagulating bleeding points, ligating vessels,</li></ol><p>and by other means as directed by the surgeon</p><ol start=\"7\"><li>Provides exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging</li></ol><p>techniques.</p><ol start=\"8\"><li>Handles tissue as directed by the surgeon during the operative procedure.</li><li>Performs wound closure as directed by the surgeon, sutures the peritoneum, fascia,</li></ol><p>subcutaneous tissue and skin.</p><ol start=\"10\"><li>Applies surgical dressings.</li><li>Assists with transferring the patient from the operating room.</li><li>Practices within limitations of preparation and experience</li><li>Maintains continuing education relative to practice.</li><li>Verifies correct sponge, tape, needle, and instrument count with other nursing personnel in room.</li><li>Labels specimens properly and takes to area for transfer to Lab.</li></ol><p>&nbsp;</p><p>RESPONSIBLE TO: Department Director, Clinical Manager, Charge Nurses</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>GENERAL RN MAIN FUNCTION:</p><p>Provides nursing care to patients in an efficient, professional, compassionate, and caring manner.</p><p>Directs the activities of paraprofessional as they provide care. Responsible for assuring effective.</p><p>communication with patients, support persons and members of the healthcare team. Responsible for</p><p>implementing nursing care of assigned patients via the Nursing Process including assessment,</p><p>diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Acts in compliance with hospital, Nursing Department policies/procedures and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Ohio. Follows WCH</p><p>Nursing Philosophy and practice model which are derived from the Synergy model and appropriate service standards as outlined in Employee Handbook.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Operations</p><ol><li>Maintains appropriate clinical skills:<ol><li>Administers care according to WCH/unit policy/procedure, current standards of care and Ohio Nurse Practice Act.</li><li>Performs assessments/reassessments and documentation relevant to patient&#39;s condition, needs and age, per nursing documentation guidelines. Communicates changes in patient condition to physician in timely manner and suggests possible interventions and course of care as appropriate in a collaborative manner.</li><li>Initiates, evaluates, and reviews plan of care.</li><li>Provides age-appropriate health teaching related to diagnosis, identified patient/family needs and medication, using available teaching resources and assuring patient family understanding by teach back.</li></ol></li><li>Administers medication safely:<ol><li>Correctly demonstrates use of CPOE(Computer Physician Order Entry)</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of drug purpose and effectiveness as related to diagnosis.</li><li>Follows 6 rights of medication administration.</li><li>Demonstrates appropriate/safe medication handling/administration.</li><li>Reassesses and documents effectiveness of medication.</li></ol></li><li>Assures team members huddle and round on patients to :<ol><li>Evaluate the environment to assure safety &amp; infection control standards are met.</li><li>Evaluate the care provided to assure it is based on practice standards and evidence-based practice.</li><li>Evaluate the educational plan and its implementation, assessing for and addressing gaps in care.</li><li>Evaluate for any additional /alternative care needs, and patient/family satisfaction.</li><li>Evaluate adherence to nursing practice standards of care and documentation of care by the nurse and team members.</li></ol></li><li>Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity.
