Augusta Military Medical Center, Fort Belvoir, VA, Department of Radiology, Clinical Support Services Directorate in the Diagnostic Radiology section. Work hours are Mon-Fri 0800-1600, with occasional call rotations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Fort Belvoir is a United States Army base located on 8,656 acres along the Potomac River in Fairfax County, VA. It encompasses a population of 47,000 and is well-positioned a mere 12 miles south of Washington, DC.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center is a Department of Defense medical facility located on Fort Belvoir, Virginia, outside of Washington D.C. In conjunction with Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Belvoir provides the Military Health System medical capabilities of the National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR MD), a joint unit providing comprehensive care to members of the United States Armed Forces located in the capital area, and their families. The facility is located on a U.S. Army installation but operates as one of the first joint service medical facilities in the U.S. military, staffed with uniformed medical personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The hospital is one of the largest medical facilities in Northern Virginia and provides all levels of inpatient and outpatient medical care. The facility maintains a 24-hour emergency department but, like most U.S. military hospitals, transfers patients in need of a trauma center to equipped civilian medical facilities. As part of federal emergency planning in the National Capitol Region, the hospital is also tasked with maintaining unique capabilities to support continuity of government operations in the event of crisis.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The $1.03 billion, 1.3 million-square-foot facility opened in August 2011, replacing Fort Belvoir's existing medical facility, DeWitt Army Community Hospital, and integrating significant portions of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., in accordance with 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Act. For more information, please visit the following link: https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/benefits/  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>WHO MAY APPLY:</strong> US Citizens</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p> Major Duties:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Interpret full range of general diagnostic imaging modality exams to include MRI, CT, Ultrasound, plain film, fluoroscopy, mammography and nuclear scintigraphy.</li>\n <li>Evaluate imaging test results for the purposes of diagnosis, patient care, research, and education.</li>\n <li>Collaborate with a interdisciplinary team consisting of direct and indirect patient care professionals to include diagnostic imaging staff, x-ray technicians, laboratory staff, and referring clinical team and providers.</li>\n <li>Oversee the development and evolution of imaging service protocols, technologists, service practices, and the interdisciplinary communication / interaction with Clinical Services to achieve best practice standards and patient care.</li>\n <li>Assist with formulation of plans and procedures for assigned services and coordinate radiological services with other medical activities</li>\n <li>Advise on radiological supplies and equipment, capability of available resources, and the future needs.</li>\n <li>Provide technical and scientific oversight of scientific staff.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Who May Apply: US Citizens</strong>In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.<strong>Basic Requirement for Physician (Radiology-Diagnostic):Degree: </strong>Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.<strong>Licensure: </strong>Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.<strong>Graduate Training: </strong>Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.<strong>In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:Residency Training for GP-14 Position:</strong> Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Interventional Radiology, Diagnostic Radiology, Radiation Oncology) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified.<strong>If you are selected for a Physician position: </strong>A salary quote will not be provided to you at the time of the initial job offer.
