Position Summary:
Provide support for patients followed in Psychosis Spectrum Disorder Program Provide depot injections and education to patients followed in the Medication Clinic Support patients being followed in the Clozapine Clinic including blood draws and collection Health teaching with patients Education and support for families/significant others Consult with inter-professional team and community agencies to maintain coordination in the patient’s treatment process
Key Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing Graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing, with Baccalaureate degree preferred CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing preferred Minimum 3 years Mental Health experience Expertise and experience in giving depot injections Knowledge of relevant medications and side effects Knowledge and experience related to concurrent disorders preferred Solid mental health experience re: adult patients with complex psychiatric disorders Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to interact with patients and their families in an empathetic manner Ability to support a model of recovery is essential Must possess excellent organizational, time management and critical thinking skills Sound working knowledge of legislation related to mental health care and treatment Ability to work independently as well as part of an inter-professional team Excellent assessment and documentation skills Positive work and attendance record
