    "requisitionDescription": "<p id=\"isPasted\">Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.</p><p>The GMC Architecture Community is growing and has an opening for an<strong>&nbsp;Design Professional II</strong><strong>&nbsp;</strong>for architectural projects in Birmingham, AL. The ideal candidate is a degreed, non-licensed architecture professional with developing expertise in conventional aspects of architectural practice. This role supports the design team by executing assignments on projects of small to moderate size and complexity, contributing to conceptual design, planning, programming, and other project-related activities with appropriate level of support. While primarily office-based, the position may involve fieldwork as required to support project objectives, providing opportunities to further develop technical skills and professional knowledge under the guidance of senior staff.</p><p><strong>Essential functions and responsibilities include:</strong></p><p><strong>Technical</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 8px \"><li>Utilizes a strong understanding of computer-aided design (CAD) software, including Revit, along with established techniques, standards, and tools to support the preparation of technical drawings.</li><li>Transforms and develops initial rough preliminary designs into working documents utilizing Revit and or CAD software.</li><li>Reviews drawings and documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintains deadlines, goals, and production standards set by the department. Coordinates and consults with team members to complete projects on time.&nbsp;</li><li>Assists in the development of client presentations and visual materials.</li><li>Applies standard methods to routine tasks while developing professional judgment and understanding of ethical responsibilities.</li><li>Conducts code and product research, prepares as-built drawings, and supports permit applications and project documentation.</li><li>Assists in preparing meeting agendas, documenting notes, and responding to contractor RFIs.</li><li>Reviews shop drawings for compliance and conduct site visits to monitor construction progress.</li><li>Performs additional duties as assigned to support project and departmental needs.<strong>&nbsp;</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Collaboration</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 8px \"><li>Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final working drawings</li><li>Communicates effectively with team members regarding project planning, meetings, schedules, and deadlines.</li><li>Collaborates with team members to expand industry knowledge and professional expertise.</li><li>Actively seeks learning opportunities from both peers and leaders to enhance technical knowledge and skills</li><li>Collaborates across disciplines and office locations to leverage the firm&rsquo;s collective expertise.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Area of Focus&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Completion of NCARB experience hours in support of architectural licensure.</li><li>Strong understanding of building details and construction document development.</li><li>Advancement of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) review processes.</li><li>Introduction to GMC Learning Communities.<strong>&nbsp;</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p><p><strong>Education/Experience</strong></p><ul style=\"margin-left: 8px \"><li>3-8 years of experience, preferred&nbsp;</li><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s or Master&rsquo;s degree in Architecture from an accredited architectural program.</li><li>Advanced knowledge of Revit and CAD software.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.</li><li>Effective communication and teamwork abilities.</li><li>Eagerness to learn and develop technical and professional skills.</li><li>Must be able to perform work-related travel and have a valid driver&rsquo;s license</li><li>Must be local to GMC office</li></ul><p><strong>Travel Expectation&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Approximately 10%&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Physical Demands&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>This position requires work to be performed in an office environment and in the field.</li><li>Work done in the field may consist of exposure to various types of weather and temperatures.
