Position: Medico-Legal Tech Department: Health Info MGMT Services Shift: Days 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Status: Full -Time Facility: Miami Valley Hospital The Health Information Analyst (Medical-Legal Tech) is primarily responsible for performing the medical-legal functions efficiently and accurately. The analyst is responsible for (but is not limited to) processing requests for medical information from physician offices, healthcare facilities, attorneys, insurance companies, patients and/or their representatives. The Medical-Legal Tech a ssures that guidelines of HIPAA are followed to reduce the hospital’s potential liability in releasing records or protected health information. . He or she must have the ability to deal effectively with the public, medical staff, and other hospital personnel at all times. Education %0A Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED %0A Additional requirements: %0A Type of degree : Associate Degree preferred %0A Area of study or major : HIM or other healthcare profession %0A Preferred educational qualifications : RHIT certification preferred %0A %0A %0A Licensure/Certification/Registration %0A Medical Terminology %0A %0A Experience %0A Minimum Level of Experience Required: 1 - 3 years of job-related experience %0A Prior job title or occupational experience: Medical-Legal experience in a Health Information Management department or related experience, i.e. healthcare billing, physician office. Associate degree, HIM, in lieu of medical-legal experience. %0A Other experience requirements: Medical Terminology or completion of medical terminology course within 3 months of hire. %0A %0A Knowledge/Skills %0A %0A Must display excellent telephone techniques. %0A Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and written. %0A Must have data entry skills and be familiar with the use of a keyboard. %0A Notary of the Public preferred.
