Job Overview Shriners Children’s Salt Lake City is seeking a skilled and compassionate Pediatric Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our team in a full-time, outpatient role. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collegial, teaching-oriented environment with strong support, mentorship, and long-term growth potential. This provider will care for pediatric patients in an exclusively clinic-based setting, delivering pre-operative, post-operative, and non-operative care across a broad spectrum of orthopedic conditions. Responsibilities include the evaluation and management of general pediatric orthopedic conditions, including but not limited to fracture care and follow-up, sprains and minor sports injuries, developmental conditions such as hip dysplasia and flatfoot, gait and alignment concerns, and common overuse injuries. The role also includes caring for patients with neuromuscular and spine conditions, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, scoliosis, kyphosis, and other spinal deformities. Additional duties include routine post-operative follow-up and in-office procedures such as casting, bracing, and wound care. The role will also include an average of 1–2 days per week of coverage at our offsite clinic in Ogden. This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) and no call, weekend, or holiday coverage requirements, offering excellent work-life balance. Compensation ranges between $92,893 and $159,245 and is determined based on a combination of years of advanced practice experience and internal equity. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive and age-appropriate health assessments, histories, and physical exams. Formulate differential diagnoses and develop care plans in coordination with supervising physicians and the care team. Manage care for pediatric orthopedic specialty populations Provide pre-operative and post-operative evaluations and ongoing management in both inpatient and ambulatory surgical environments. Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, lab work, and other tests as permitted by licensure and protocol. Perform routine procedures within the scope of licensure. Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions consistent with the scope of practice and Shriners Children’s policies. Participate in multidisciplinary clinics and care conferences to support coordinated, integrated care. Educate patients, caregivers, and staff on disease processes, treatment plans, and home care strategies. Document clinical findings, treatment plans, and patient responses using the electronic health record (EHR). Support quality improvement, patient safety, and research initiatives as appropriate to the role. Provide mentorship or precepting to clinical staff or trainees as assigned. Maintain compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, including infection control and documentation standards. Perform additional duties within the scope of licensure as assigned to support patient care and organizational goals. Maintain all professional licensure, certifications, and mandatory training in compliance with state and organizational requirements. Ensure time is allocated in accordance with assigned clinical, surgical, administrative, and academic expectations.
