Job Summary The Karim laboratory at the University of Southern Mississippi is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled postdoctoral fellow to join our team studying Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) – a tick bite-induced meat allergy with growing public health significance. Our research uses functional genomics tools to investigate the role of tick saliva components in triggering AGS. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic academic environment committed to professional growth and supporting diverse career trajectories in biomedical research. This is a restricted position with no set end date, and continued employment depends on project need, funding availability, and performance. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with PI and the research team to plan, design, and execute scientific research. Perform experiments using appropriate molecular tools to study the tick bite-induced meat allergy. Maintain tick colonies in the laboratory. Maintain detailed laboratory notebook and data records. Writing manuscripts, grants, and abstracts. Write and edit drafts of manuscripts for publication. Write/contribute data for extramural grant proposals. Write abstracts of research and present them at scientific conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.
