Our mission has always been to provide our customers with the highest quality waste, recycling and environmental services, while keeping focus on employee, customer and environmental safety. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>What makes our company culture unique is we have mastered the ability to balance the standards of a large corporate company while maintaining our small business family style culture. </p>\n<h2>Essential Job Summary:</h2>\n<p>Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising the collections activities in one or more lines of business (commercial, residential, roll-off and container delivery pick up). The Operations Supervisor oversees drivers, helpers, and other members of the management team and works with the Operations Site Manager to implement tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and budget achievement. The Supervisor ensures adherence to all accident prevention programs and leads operations to ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, operating, regulatory, accounting, ethics and other standards. Responsibilities include the execution and delivery of Safety, Customer Experience, and Efficiency while supporting a culture of employee engagement.</p>\n<h2>Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Lead drivers to exceed productivity goals and expectations for all routes.</li>\n <li>Create, modify, and improve routes to maximize density and improve efficiency.</li>\n <li>Reduce route hours to the extent possible with techniques such as service conversions and container upsizing.</li>\n <li>Understand and provide leadership to achieve and communicate about safety goals and objectives.</li>\n <li>Work to remove unsafe conditions or situations from drivers’ routes.</li>\n <li>Work with the sales team to identify and eliminate any unsafe conditions on new or existing customers, seeking service alternatives where appropriate.</li>\n <li>Partner with the maintenance department to ensure all equipment remains in working order and in compliance with safety standards.</li>\n <li>Oversee effective safety and accident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable actions are taken to prevent accidents and injuries; ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees; implement and maintain an effective safety program.</li>\n <li>Engage assigned employees in active participation to instill a culture of safety by demonstration of a personal commitment to safe operations and active personal outreach to operational employees.</li>\n <li>Observes drivers on the road and corrects safety problems on the scene while documenting violations.</li>\n <li>Documents and maintains records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation (DOT)</li>\n <li>Reviews and audits documentation related to route operations daily (e.g., DVIRs, driver time and attendance, open tickets), following up where appropriate.</li>\n <li>Perform route vehicle inspections.</li>\n <li>Conducts on-the-scene incident/accident investigation; assists drivers in preparing accident reports, and safety violations documents.</li>\n <li>Conduct daily shift safety briefings at company depots.</li>\n <li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>The Driver position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds,</li>\n <li>Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.</li>\n <li>Drivers must be able to physically mount and dismount the truck throughout the duration of the workday</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Requirements and Qualifications:</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must have a valid drivers license.</li>\n <li>3+ years of experience in transportation supervision or similar lead role.</li>\n <li>Proficient knowledge and understanding of DOT rules and regulations.</li>\n <li>Extensive knowledge of New York City roads and highways for route planning and support.</li>\n <li>Current Driver’s License and no disqualifying violations on MVR.</li>\n <li>Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.</li>\n <li>Intermediate Word and Excel skills for correspondence and reporting duties.</li>\n <li>Intermediate MS Outlook skills for regular daily communication with coworkers and departments</li>\n <li>Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.</li>\n <li>Willingness to be flexible with schedule start and end times.</li>\n <li>Be open and honest with team and manager on all levels.</li>\n <li>Desire to learn, grow, and build your capacity to improve yourself and your team.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Information</h2>\n<p><em>IWS’s base pay actually offered takes into account a range of factors including, but not limited to, internal equity, the candidate’s geographic region,  job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, and other business and organizational needs.</em></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Bonus: </strong>This role is bonus eligible as part of the compensation package.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Benefits:</strong> IWS employees are eligible to participate in our benefits plan.
