Description
General Summary: This position is primarily responsible for performing diagnostic radiology and CT scans according to departmental protocol under the direction of a radiologist in a manner to provide exceptional customer service.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
General Requirements: All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner.
1. Assumes responsibility for maintaining clinical competencies according to Gonzaba Medical Group policy.
2. Ensures customer service is always maintained at the highest level.
3. Exercise tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
4. Must always adhere to customer service expectations including in-person and virtual (via telephone, or telehealth applications) communication.
5. Participates in educational programs as needed.
6. Performs clerical functions as required including answering the telephone, burning CDs and assisting medical staff with questions.
7. Reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Manager.
8. Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred.
9. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
2. Produces CT Images of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures.
3. Assures all exams have proper authorization for ordered study.
4. Starts IV for intravenous contrast studies.
5. Prepares patients for radiology and CT procedures utilizing established protocols for patient care and safety.
6. Prepares contrast media.
7. Prepares patient for exam.
8. Ensures equipment is in working order.
9. Runs QC test on specified days.
10. Monitors (quality control) their own scans for technical quality by setting proper radiological techniques for each view/exam.
11. Logs procedures completed.
12. Process routine paperwork.
13. Maintains CT rooms.
14. Stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies.
15. Assists Supervisor during ACR accreditation to perform required exams and provide required images and reports.
16. Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.
17. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients during examination.
18. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.
19. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.
20. Examines radiologic image for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
21. Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.
22. Ensures images are in accordance with imaging protocols and completes exams for radiologist to review.
23. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
24. Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
25. Participates in training employees, student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance.
26. Transports patients safely from the following positions: sitting to standing or laying down, from standing to sitting or laying down, from laying down to standing or sitting, and assist to the bathroom, into/out of wheelchairs, and pushing/pulling patients in wheelchairs.
27. Must always keep the patients’ safety a priority, which will involve preventing potential falls as needed.
28. Will need to travel to support patient care at all GMG locations on a rotational basis.
29. Maintains strict confidentiality.
Work Environment: Clinic environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Mental / Physical Requirements: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance. Close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work efficiently under pressure.

Qualifications
Education and Training: Minimum high school education or equivalent. Requires completion of radiologic technology training and ARRT registration. Texas Medical Board Certified as a Medical Radiology Technologist (MRT)is required. Current CPR/Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification with AED required. All required certifications are required as initial and continued employment at Gonzaba Medical Group is contingent upon this credential.
Experience: Three years’ experience in CT and Radiology in hospital or clinical setting, ARRT in Ct is preferred.
Other Requirements: Computer Skills: Skilled in use of computer/EMR systems. Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet, and database software. RIS/PAC software experience required.

Reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Manager.\\r\\n8. Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred. \\r\\n9. Other duties as assigned.\\r\\n \\r\\nEssential Job Responsibilities: \\r\\n1. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.\\r\\n2. Produces CT Images of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures.\\r\\n3. Assures all exams have proper authorization for ordered study.\\r\\n4. Starts IV for intravenous contrast studies.\\r\\n5. Prepares patients for radiology and CT procedures utilizing established protocols for patient care and safety.\\r\\n6. Prepares contrast media.\\r\\n7. Prepares patient for exam.\\r\\n8. Ensures equipment is in working order. \\r\\n9. Runs QC test on specified days. \\r\\n10. Monitors (quality control) their own scans for technical quality by setting proper radiological techniques for each view/exam.\\r\\n11. Logs procedures completed. \\r\\n12. Process routine paperwork.\\r\\n13. Maintains CT rooms. \\r\\n14. Stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies.\\r\\n15. Assists Supervisor during ACR accreditation to perform required exams and provide required images and reports. \\r\\n16. Positions patients and adjusts equipment for taking X-rays following established procedures.\\r\\n17. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients during examination.\\r\\n18. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment.\\r\\n19. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis.\\r\\n20. Examines radiologic image for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.\\r\\n21. Authorizes release of patients upon completion of radiologic examination.\\r\\n22. Ensures images are in accordance with imaging protocols and completes exams for radiologist to review.\\r\\n23. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.\\r\\n24. Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.\\r\\n25. Participates in training employees, student technologists in equipment operation, patient movement, and quality assurance.\\r\\n26. Transports patients safely from the following positions: sitting to standing or laying down, from standing to sitting or laying down, from laying down to standing or sitting, and assist to the bathroom, into/out of wheelchairs, and pushing/pulling patients in wheelchairs. \\r\\n27. Must always keep the patients’ safety a priority, which will involve preventing potential falls as needed. \\r\\n28. Will need to travel to support patient care at all GMG locations on a rotational basis.\\r\\n29. Maintains strict confidentiality.\\r\\n \\r\\n\\r\\nWork Environment: Clinic environment. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.\\r\\n \\r\\nMental / Physical Requirements: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
