Baylor TIP Residential Summer Program Teaching Assistants (TAs) provide supervision and mentoring to the students who qualify for and participate in summer residential programs offered through The Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development. TAs are responsible for supporting students during the academic day. They report to an assigned instructor and assist in teaching a course that is appropriately rigorous and challenging for high ability students. They also supervise students during class breaks and lunch and may lead a one-hour evening study session with the students in their class.<br><br>\n An Advanced Undergrad (120 credit hours) OR 2 years of Undergrad coursework, and zero years of experience are required. Relevant professional experience may substitute for some credit hours.<br><br>\n Baylor reserves the right to hire candidates into either TIP Teaching Assistant or Lead TIP Teaching Assistant as we see fit.&nbsp;<br><br><i><strong><u>Applications must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.</u></strong></i><strong>&nbsp;</strong><br><br><strong>Minimum&nbsp;Required Education and Skills</strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Content expertise&nbsp;in the area of instruction (e.g., mathematics, engineering etc.)&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate effectively&nbsp;and positively&nbsp;with students, families, and other staff</li>\n <li>Strong organizational skills&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Preferred&nbsp;Education and Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in a leadership position&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Strong customer service skills</li>\n <li>Ability to effectively problem-solve&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Experience working with adolescents or young adults</li>\n</ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\">&nbsp;<strong>Job&nbsp;Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Complete all required trainings&nbsp;and&nbsp;job-specific&nbsp;assignments&nbsp;prior to working with students</li>\n <li>Assist instructor in planning and implementing high-quality lessons&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Arrive at Baylor&nbsp;Wednesday&nbsp;prior to the start of the class for on-site trainings and&nbsp;set-up</li>\n <li>Attend all required staff meetings&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Create a fun&nbsp;and welcoming environment for all students&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Encourage students to positively engage with all activities, staff, and other students</li>\n <li>Actively supervise students&nbsp;during assigned times&nbsp;to ensure their safety and well-being</li>\n <li>Adhere to and enforce all safety and risk management policies</li>\n <li>Collaborate with&nbsp;the&nbsp;leadership team&nbsp;and&nbsp;other&nbsp;onsite staff&nbsp;members&nbsp;to resolve&nbsp;any&nbsp;student&nbsp;disciplinary&nbsp;issues or concerns&nbsp;in&nbsp;an appropriate manner that aligns with the Center’s mission and policies</li>\n <li>Maintain&nbsp;positive relationships with students, parents, and staff&nbsp;&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Assist with the logistical running of&nbsp;the program, helping with administrative and operational duties as assigned&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Complete all tasks&nbsp;required for&nbsp;effectively&nbsp;closing the&nbsp;session (submitting evaluations, returning supplies that belong to Baylor,&nbsp;reporting any property damage that occurred&nbsp;during the&nbsp;program,&nbsp;etc.)</li>\n <li>Assist&nbsp;with transportation and care of students with medical needs&nbsp;that require a visit&nbsp;to the&nbsp;on-site medical clinic or to&nbsp;the&nbsp;dorms for needed rest.</li>\n <li>Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission</li>\n <li>Ability to comply with university policies</li>\n <li>Maintain regular and punctual attendance</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Employer</strong>: Baylor University</p>\n<p><strong>Work Location: </strong>Garland School of Social Work</p>\n<p><strong>Work Address: </strong>1214 S. 4<sup>th</sup>&nbsp;St., Waco, TX&nbsp;</p>",
