This position is responsible for leading our woodshop program and providing students with meaningful, skills-based learning experiences in a structured and supportive environment.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Class sizes at IAA are intentionally small, typically ranging from 5–8 students, based on individual student needs. Our students benefit from a highly individualized, supportive setting designed specifically for learners with special needs and learning differences.</p><p><br></p><p>The Shop Teacher will design and deliver lessons that build practical skills such as tool safety, basic construction techniques, following multi-step directions, and completing hands-on projects. Instruction should be adapted to meet a wide range of abilities, with an emphasis on safety, engagement, and confidence-building.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>This position is located at our South Charlotte campus.&nbsp;</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Instruction: Plan and deliver personalized instruction tailored to the unique needs of each student in alignment with their academic plan, utilizing the provided curriculum.</li><li>Collaboration: Work closely with teacher assistants and support staff to provide continuous support and services.</li><li>Behavioral Support: Implement and monitor behavioral strategies to create a supportive and structured classroom environment that promotes positive behaviors and social interactions.</li><li>Individualized Academic Plans: Develop, along with the Head of School, implement, and regularly update Academic Plans for each student, ensuring alignment with their specific goals and needs.</li><li>Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress, adjust instructional methods as needed, and provide detailed reports on student achievements.
