    "description": "<p>The Douglas Family Early Childhood Center of Sinai Akiba Academy, a Sinai Temple school, is looking for experienced, dedicated early childhood educators to join our substitute teaching team. This on-call, non-exempt position involves working with a supportive and talented team of diverse teachers in a fun, warm, creative and nurturing environment for children ages 18 months to 5 years old. DFECC substitute teachers work with a classroom teaching team to facilitate learning experiences aligned with the school's mission and values.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Sinai Akiba Academy is a preeminent private Jewish day school in Los Angeles, serving students in Early Childhood through Grade 8. Sinai Akiba Academy is undergirded by our school mission to engage students in the joy and discipline of learning, and nurture a community of ethical, critical thinkers who, shaped by our evolving Jewish tradition, walk through the world with confidence and humility.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Our core values of <em>Kehillah Kedoshah</em> (Sacred Community); <em>Talmud Torah</em> (Academic Excellence); <em>Derech Eretz</em> (Kindness, Empathy, &amp; Respect); <em>Tzedek, Tzedek Tirdof</em> (Ethical Responsibility); <em>Avodat Halev</em> (Soulful Intention), and <em>Ahavat Yisrael</em> (Love for Israel) serve as a commitment with the students, families and community members that we serve to energize the present, explore the past, and embrace the future.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with other teachers to provide enriching play and learning activities for children</li>\n<li>Help with the setup and cleanup of all classroom activities</li>\n<li>Assist with classroom tasks, including diaper changing, outdoor play supervision, snack and lunch setup, etc.</li>\n<li>Maintain an inviting environment through daily cleanup of the outdoor yard spaces </li>\n<li>Work with other teachers to ensure the safety of children</li>\n<li>Provide supervision and support for DFECC students throughout range of daily activities as directed by the DFECC Director, DFECC Associate Director, Head of School, or designee</li>\n<li>Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide enriching play and learning activities for children</li>\n<li>Follow SAA’s licensing protocols</li>\n<li>Embrace and model Sinai Akiba’s mission statement and Core Values</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">REQUIREMENTS AND </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>REQUIRED:</em></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 12-semester units in Child Development/ECE, including core courses of Child Growth &amp; Development, Child, Family &amp; Community, and Curriculum</li>\n<li>Availability to work in person, part-time, full or partial days as-needed between the hours of 7:45am - 3:30pm</li>\n<li>Support the DFECC/Sinai Akiba mission/vision and commit to helping move DFECC towards that vision</li>\n<li>Must understand how to facilitate play-based learning and support children’s healthy social and emotional development</li>\n<li>Must support an attitude that every child has the ability and opportunity to succeed in all areas</li>\n<li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li>\n<li>Must pass DOJ/FBI background check</li>\n<li>Must complete California Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of start date (renewed every 2 years)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em>PREFERRED:</em></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>AA (or higher) degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education</li>\n<li>Experience in an early childhood education classroom setting</li>\n<li>Knowledge of Jewish customs, rituals, holidays, etc., or openness to learning about them</li>\n<li>Up-to-date pediatric CPR and first aid certification</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>Sinai Akiba Academy provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees and strictly prohibits any type of harassment or discrimination in regards to race, religion, age, color, sex, disability status, national origin, genetics, sexual orientation, protected veteran status, gender expression, gender identity, or any other characteristic protected under federal, state, and/or local laws.</em></p>",
