Description
Help Build a Stronger Community
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy constituency office serving this Toronto community.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about public service, enjoys leading people, and takes pride in creating systems that ensure things run smoothly. Must be able to notice details, follow through on commitments, solve problems and bring compassion and clarity to help others succeed.
Working closely with the Member of Parliament, you will lead a small team responsible for community outreach, constituent services, communications, events, stakeholder relationships, and office operations. You will help translate the Member's priorities into action, ensuring commitments are delivered, relationships are nurtured, and the office operates effectively. Your leadership will allow the Member to focus on serving constituents and advancing key priorities in the community and nationally. This role is ideal for an experienced operational leader who is ready to serve as the Member's trusted right hand, ensuring priorities are executed, commitments are followed through, and the office operates at a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Lead, coach, and support staff, interns, and volunteers. Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented culture. Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management. Serve as a trusted liaison between the Member and staff. Organize team workload to support the Member's strategic and evolving priorities. Office Operations
Oversee the day-to-day operation of the constituency office. Establish and maintain systems that ensure correspondence, requests, meetings, casework, outreach activities, and events are managed effectively. Ensure commitments are tracked, deadlines are met, and follow-up occurs consistently. Manage office budgets, financial administration, and reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with House of Commons policies, procedures, and administrative requirements. Community Outreach and Stakeholder Relations
Oversee the scheduling and delivery of the Member's priority meetings, events, outreach activities, and community engagements. Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local leaders, and stakeholders. Represent the Member professionally when required. Identify opportunities to strengthen the Member's community presence and impact. Information and Systems Management
Ensure constituent and stakeholder information is accurately maintained. Oversee the use of databases and client relationship management systems. Develop processes that improve efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness. Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions. The Kind of Person We're Looking For
Exceptionally organized, dependable, and detail oriented. Skilled at creating order, managing competing priorities, and ensuring follow-through. An effective people leader who combines accountability with empathy. Calm, resourceful, and able to exercise sound judgement under pressure. An excellent communicator (in English) who builds trust and relationships easily. Motivated by public service and helping others. Most importantly, you take ownership, follow through on commitments, and help create an environment where both staff and constituents feel supported and well served.
We recognize that strong candidates come from a variety of professional backgrounds. Experience in politics is not required.
The successful candidate will typically bring:
A university degree, college diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 7 years of leadership experience managing people, operations, projects, or service delivery. Experience building effective teams, improving organizational systems and processes. Demonstrated communication, relationship-building, and organizational abilities. Demonstrated judgement, discretion, and professionalism.
