Description While this position welcomes applications from individuals external to the university, current Academic Teaching Staff are first notified of available positions and will receive first consideration in accordance with the terms of the Academic Teaching Staff Agreement before considering external candidates for positions with a term 8 months or longer. Please login to verify your internal candidate status. This is a Term 12 position with an initial appointment of 12 months. Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton. The Department of Physiology and the Neuroscience and Mental Health Institute (NMHI) invite applications for a full-time, one-year renewable Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) position in Neuroscience, focused on the delivery of the NMHI Neuroscience program. The teaching load is commensurate with guidelines set out in the ATS agreement and will be equivalent to 6-credit courses per year. This appointment requires a Ph.D. degree in any discipline with a focus in Neuroscience and extensive experience/knowledge in the latest advancements in neuroscience research. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in teaching neuroscience, laboratory protocols and methodologies In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will contribute to course coordination and curriculum development/revision. This may include the development of courses in areas such as developmental neuroscience, molecular neurobiology, and neuroscience-focused laboratory instruction. Responsibilities Must be able to teach all levels of undergraduate students in didactic classes as well as lead discussion-based courses at the 4th year level. General topics in neuroscience at the 2nd year level (e.g. NEURO 210) Teach advanced undergraduate Neuroscience courses at the third- and fourth-year levels (e.g. NEURO 371, NEURO 375) This position includes additional duties related to course coordination and curriculum revision/development (e.g. development of a course on developmental neuroscience, molecular neurobiology and neuroscience-focused laboratory course) Information about neuroscience courses can be found in the course listings of the 2026-2027 calendar: NEURO courses Qualifications Requires a Ph.D. degree in any discipline with a focus in Neuroscience and extensive experience/knowledge in the latest advancements in neuroscience research.
