Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.  Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis.  Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.  Operates CT / X-Ray Equipment to make quality Images / radiographs of designated body parts, utilizing the lowest possible radiation dose.  Responsibilities include knowledge of all CT/Radiology procedures, proper patient positioning, exposures, Utilization of PACS, implementation of patient charges, and assists physicians as required.</em></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<h1>Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions</h1>\n<p>1.     Under the direction of a Radiologist, produces high quality radiographs on all patient age groups.  </p>\n<p>·         Explains procedure to patient.</p>\n<p>·         Position and immobilize patient for procedure. </p>\n<p>·         Selects appropriate technical factors for specific body part.</p>\n<p>·         Review images for quality and accuracy of positioning.</p>\n<p>·         Willingly helps out in Radiology or other departments within Imaging whenever the need arises.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>2.     Assists Radiologist with Invasive Procedures as needed.  </p>\n<p>·         Sets up room properly for specific procedure.   </p>\n<p>·         Practices principles of  sterile technique</p>\n<p>·         Label items on trays in accordance with required Joint Commission standards.</p>\n<p>·         Selects appropriate procedure trays/instruments needed.</p>\n<p>·         Obtain images as requested by Radiologist to facilitate diagnosis of disease processes. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>3.     Maintain Patient and Personal safety.</p>\n<p>·         Provides radiation protection to all patients as needed.   </p>\n<p>·         Practices personal radiation safety measures to minimize annual occupational exposure levels.</p>\n<p>·         Follows principles of good body mechanics when lifting.</p>\n<p>·         Utilize appropriate transfer techniques for patient condition.</p>\n<p>·         Use two (2) identifiers approved by the hospital to verify patient identity.</p>\n<p>·         Utilizes lowest Dose possible in all exams.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>4.     Administer appropriate Contrast media as directed by Radiologist.</p>\n<p>·         Administers IV contrast as directed by Radiologist..  </p>\n<p>·         Assess patient for possible contrast media sensitivity prior to beginning venipuncture.</p>\n<p>·         Performs venipuncture as required for procedures.</p>\n<p>·         Proper use of Power Injector. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>5.     PACS</p>\n<p>·         Completes all exams timely in PACS and EMR                 </p>\n<p>·         Properly performs procedure for making patient CD’s, as well as verifies all information is on all CD’s before given out.                                            </p>\n<p>·         Verify that written physician order matches order in PACS.</p>\n<p>·         Verifies all images are in PACS, scans any required documentation, and adds any additional information in notes section as needed</p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<h1>Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: </h1>\n<p><strong>Education:  </strong>High school diploma or equivalent, Graduate of an Accredited Diagnostic Imaging Program, ARRT in Radiology (CT preferred)<strong></strong></p>\n<p><strong>License, Certification and/or Registration:</strong></p>\n<p>ARRT(R) Required, ARRT(CT) preferred</p>\n<p>BLS must be obtained during orientation period</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Experience: </strong>Minimum of one-year clinical experience in direct patient care setting preferred. Requires proficiency at a technical level not requiring constant direct supervision in CT</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Additional Skills/Abilities:</strong></p>\n<p>Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing task frequently and quickly.</p>\n<p>Must be able to work in a team environment.</p>\n<p>Must be able to use a computer terminal, fax machine, and copy machine.</p>",
