Who You Are JOB HIGHLIGHTS: When you join the emergency residential shelter team at My Sisters’ Place (MSP), you will be part of a dynamic and diverse group of passionate counselors and advocates committed to transforming the world. You will work to further MSP’s mission in accordance with our guiding principles in a leadership role that addresses the complex safety and case management needs of survivors of domestic violence (DV) and human trafficking (HT). MAIN AREAS OF FOCUS: Trauma-Informed Domestic Violence Individual and Group Counseling; Leadership; Interdisciplinary Collaboration; Crisis Intervention; Safety Planning; LOCATION: This job is currently performing in a hybrid between remote and in-person work in MSP’s shelter located in a confidential location in Westchester County, NY. JOB OVERVIEW: Emergency shelter is a critically important resource for survivors of abuse. The Bilingual Residential Clinician will ensure that each resident transitioning in and out of MSP’s shelter undergoes a supportive and valuable experience. Residential Clinician should be compassionate, client-centered, trauma-informed, responsive, resourceful, and have sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ensure that residents receive emotional support and opportunities to begin healing from their trauma, while at the same time as their practical needs being met. The Residential Clinician will ensure that each client is supported; by assessing individual needs, helping to create short and long-term goals through creation of each resident’s Goal and Action Plan (GAP), and provide trauma-informed crisis intervention and counseling. Along with the other members of the shelter leadership team, the Residential Clinician will assess the effectiveness of our trauma-informed shelter protocols, procedures, and documents, and help redesign and create procedures to keep abreast of best practices in the ever-changing nuanced field of DV and HT. What You'll Do Providing private individual counseling sessions to adult and child residents Working in conjunction with shelter team to conduct weekly support groups, utilizing trauma-informed practices. Providing day-to-day needs assessment, safety planning, counseling, and crisis intervention to clients as needed and/or required. Providing leading guidance on assessment and case planning for all adult and child resident clinical/therapeutic needs. Working closely with the Senior Director of Residential and Transitional Services, Associate Director of Transitional Services, Senior Residential Advocates and Residential Advocates to provide support on clinical issues affecting all shelter residents. Answering MSP’s 24/7 hotline when needed, responding to callers in crisis by providing information and resources and assess eligibility for MSP services. Working as a part of the shelter leadership team in a shared on-call supervisory rotation for overnights and weekends throughout the year; On-call coverage may require providing coverage in shelter during on-call weekends. Participating in shelter “leadership” team meetings and regular shelter staff meetings. Adjusting work hours or work additional hours as needed in order to meet with residents, conduct support groups, or attend meetings. Working as a team with all agency staff responsible for shelter operations to ensure meeting basic client needs and facility-related needs. Establishing and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations and public agencies to foster coordination of services for emergency shelter residents and their children; represent MSP and shelter program at relevant outside meetings/events. Ensuring the collection of timely and accurate statistics on services provided; Completing monthly/quarterly reports Keeping thorough and up-to-date client records in accordance with agency file requirements. Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor Participating in monthly network meetings relevant to DV survivors and resources Maintaining strong connections to all other MSP program areas, including our Family Services unit, and Center for Legal Services. Gathering and analyzing statistics to monitor program effectiveness, and drafting monthly/quarterly activity reports to funders. Representing MSP at community meetings and coalitions and engaging in outreach to establish and strengthen partnerships. Participating in MSP trainings, committees, and interdepartmental meetings. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. What You Bring You Must Have: Bachelor’s degree, Licensure in social work, psychology, mental health counseling, or similar field a plus. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and on a team Technology proficiencies including using Excel, Apricot and other web-based platforms. Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to assess priorities, take initiative, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines A passionate commitment to principles of anti-oppression Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation Demonstration of strong leadership skills a must Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently or collaboratively Strong written and oral communication skills Computer skill proficiency Bi-lingual English/Spanish required MSP BELIEVES… In advocating for social justice, adopting an anti-oppression lens to understand gender-based violence.
