Our recreation facilities are looking for a reliable Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our community and staff. This position may also perform small building maintenance duties. A day in the life: Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Provide direction and support to new custodial staff. Perform cleaning, janitorial and sanitation duties on park restrooms and/or assigned facilities, including refilling supplies in restrooms. Assist in determining cleaning needs and adjust janitorial and sanitation schedule. Sweep and/or power wash sidewalks, parking lots and pool decks. Remove snow from sidewalks and entryways. Organize, maintain and recommend purchases for janitorial equipment and supplies. Assist in determining cleaning needs and recommend janitorial and sanitation schedule adjustments to the Custodial Supervisor. Monitor equipment and facilities for required maintenance; performs routine maintenance, including unclogging sinks, drains, and toilets; submits work order requests for necessary repairs. Maintains floors including stripping, waxing, polishing, buffing or burnishing finished floors. Clean and report graffiti, vandalism and other incidents. Arrange classroom and meeting room furniture, including setting up and taking down equipment, supplies, tables and chairs. Acts as a Mandatory Reporter; reports incidents of child abuse/neglect. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 25 hours a week, in the form of five 5 hour shifts. Weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays. This position includes a 5% work shift differential for compensation.

    "requirements_text": "What you'll need for success:\n Strong Knowledge of:\n Cleaning and sanitation requirements at a public facility;\n Common cleaning equipment, tools, materials, and supplies needed for custodian work;\n Routine custodian practices and methods, including safety procedures, proper handling, operation and maintenance of equipment, and basic building safety tasks;\n Principles and practices of customer service;\n Spoken and written English; and\n Safe and effective use and application of cleaning agents and solvents.\n Skill and Ability to:\n Safely and effectively operate cleaning equipment and tools;\n Take direction and perform task with minimal supervision;\n Prioritize tasks and perform a full range of assigned janitorial duties in a fast-paced environment;\n Identify occupational hazards and use safety precautions;\n Demonstrate a high attention to detail;\n Effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing;\n Use active listening and interpersonal skills to mitigate conflict;\n Work cooperatively with others; and\n Create a positive, constructive and respectful relationship with staff and the general public.\n What we’re looking for:\n Minimum Education, Experience, and Training:\n High school diploma or equivalent; AND\n Some custodial or facility maintenance experience preferred; OR\n Any satisfactory combination of education, experience and training.\n License and Certifications\n Some positions may require possession of, or ability to obtain valid Oregon driver’s license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history as defined by district driving policy.\n Position Specific Requirement\n This position may require reporting to additional sites throughout the workday, typically achieved in a motor vehicle OR other modes of transportation.
