Description

Description We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters. Product Development uses design thinking & user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. We bring innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas to life. We have opportunities around the world for you to contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more! In this position... The EDS Verification Test Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end verification and validation of Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS), with strong technical ownership of coaxial cable performance, durability cycling, vibration testing, and post-durability teardown analysis of EDS harnesses. This role ensures all physical testing is executed with high quality, traceability, and strict alignment to engineering requirements to support robust product validation and final sign-off. As a key technical contributor, you will collaborate closely with Netcom, ADAS, EDS D&R, and Full-Service Suppliers to protect signal integrity and harness durability across vehicle programs. Responsibilities What you'll do... Test Planning & Quality Definition: Define test scope for EDS harnesses, coax cables, connectors, and camera-related circuits. Develop detailed durability test plans (cycling, thermal, vibration) with clear quality metrics and pass/fail criteria. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Netcom, ADAS, EDS D&R, and suppliers to review and validate coax routing, packaging, shielding effectiveness, and interface compatibility for advanced camera systems. Design & Test Setup: Review and approve fixture and CAD designs to ensure accurate replication of vehicle conditions (bend radius, routing, stress points). Manage test requests (ELMS) and coordinate setups with Body Lab and Metrology. Build & Pre-Test Validation: Verify incoming parts and oversee harness/coax installation on fixtures under correct routing and strain conditions. Validate continuity and high-speed signal paths using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) test equipment. Test Execution & Monitoring: Own the execution of durability cycling tests for in-house programs, ensuring full data traceability, consistency, and repeatability. Lead root cause analysis for any fixture or harness-related issues. Post-Durability Teardown & Analysis: Lead detailed post-test teardowns of harnesses and coax cables to inspect for physical degradation (abrasion, insulation cracks, shielding degradation) and routing-induced stress. Reporting & DV Sign-Off: Generate comprehensive durability evaluation reports, correlate fixture performance, and upload results to FEDE and RQT to support official engineering sign-off. Continuous Improvement: Act as the quality owner for EDS durability validation, proactively identifying testing gaps, risks, and failure trends to drive continuous improvement in validation methods. Qualifications You'll have... Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. 2+ years of experience in electrical system testing, harness validation, or physical durability testing environments. Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and connectors. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and manage engineering deviations. Even better, if you have … Preferred Experience with coaxial cable performance, RF shielding, and high-speed data validation. Hands-on experience using Vector Network Analyzers (VNA) or other signal integrity test equipment. Familiarity with environmental chamber testing, vibration tables, and mechanical cycling fixtures. Knowledge of Ford engineering systems and tools (such as FEDE, RQT, and ELMS). Experience reviewing CAD designs (e.g., CATIA) for routing, packaging, and bend radius assessments. You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply! As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including: • Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more • Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more • Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases • Tuition assistance • Established and active employee resource groups • Paid time off for individual and team community service • A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day • Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time. This position is a salary grade 6-8 and ranges from $74,300 - $166,200.
