Our expertise span multiple core segments of the heavy highway and bridge construction arena, across Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Job Summary: </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The <strong>Foreman</strong> is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operations on the construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and within the allocated timeframes and budgets. As a link between construction workers and project managers, the Foreman ensures the team adheres to building codes, plans, and safety regulations while maintaining the high standards expected within the industry.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Duties/Responsibilities: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Supervise and direct daily work activities of field crews, including laborers, carpenters, ironworkers, and equipment operators.</li>\n <li>Emphasize safety, quality, and production.</li>\n <li>Ensure that all field personnel use proper safety equipment, including PPE, shoring, and fall protection.</li>\n <li>Be aware of multiple construction activities, including employees, subcontractors, moving heavy equipment, and other potential construction hazards.</li>\n <li>Through knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed</li>\n <li>Communicate with the Superintendent or Project Manager on project progress, issues, and resource needs</li>\n <li>Coordinate with subcontractors required to complete the job.</li>\n <li>Attend job site safety and progress meetings as required.</li>\n <li>Responsible for daily electronic reporting of timecards, diaries, job site photos, quantities, safety observations, and JHAs.</li>\n <li>Review daily production and cost analyses to meet the budget and schedule.</li>\n <li>Review all contracts, project documentation, and plans to ensure the work is built to specific specifications.</li>\n <li>Schedule state and local inspections required to complete the work.</li>\n <li>Ensure the work meets proper quality control standards.</li>\n <li>Oversee field personnel, schedules, and construction operations.</li>\n <li>Ability to read and understand project-specific documents, including schedules, plans, and specifications.</li>\n <li>Hold daily huddles to confirm that all crew members are aware of goals, production, and specific job site safety requirements.</li>\n <li>Keep clear and direct communication with crew members, superintendents, clients, client representatives & office staff.</li>\n <li>Be able to operate heavy equipment, use tools, and assist with labor as required to complete the job.</li>\n <li>Daily labor, equipment, haul & production monitoring to meet budgets.</li>\n <li>Manage and evaluate heavy equipment, tools, and materials as needed for the specific job or assigned task.</li>\n <li>Ensure equipment is inspected & maintained daily. Schedule maintenance as needed.</li>\n <li>Ensure operators properly maintain & thoroughly clean equipment and hand tools at the end of each day.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Requirements: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in the heavy construction industry is preferred.</li>\n <li>Must be willing to obtain and maintain all certifications and required training (CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30, etc.)</li>\n <li>Knowledge of bridge, highway, and/or concrete rehabilitation preferred</li>\n <li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders</li>\n <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills</li>\n <li>Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills</li>\n <li>Understanding and implementation of state & local traffic control requirements</li>\n <li>Experience with electronic field reporting software is preferred.</li>\n <li>Valid driver's license.</li>\n <li>May be required to work extended hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends.</li>\n <li>A pre-employment drug screen is required.</li>\n <li>Ability to meet physical requirements, such as lifting heavy objects, bending, kneeling, etc.</li>\n <li>Spanish-speaking skills are highly preferred to communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders effectively</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Reports to:</strong> Superintendent </p>\n<p><strong>Location</strong>: Falls Church, VA</p>\n<p><strong>Benefits</strong>: Competitive salary, medical and dental insurance, 401(K) with employer match, paid time off, and more!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Comprehensive benefits offered to eligible employees including medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; FSA; short- and long-term disability; identity theft protection; 401(k); employee assistance program; and paid time off.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Equal Employment Opportunity</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Martins Construction is committed to maintaining a working environment that promotes teamwork and that is free of any and all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment.
