    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>The Clinical Lead - Medical Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests in microbiology, clinical chemistry, hematology, serology, coagulation and urinalysis.&nbsp; Responsible for the running of a laboratory section, which includes inventory management, quality control oversight and compliance with all accreditation requirements.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Job Relationships</strong><br/>\nReports to the Laboratory Manager</p>\n\n<p><strong>Principal Responsibilities</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Perform both routine and special test procedures for which qualified by education, training and experience.&nbsp; Accountable for accurate results and the proper use of quality controls, materials and procedures.&nbsp; Must recognize the interdependency of tests and the conditions that affect test results.&nbsp; Correct own errors, and use and maintain a variety of complex instruments.&nbsp; Watch for potential problems and correct any that arise.&nbsp; See reagent inventories are kept at proper levels.&nbsp; Under minimal supervision, work on the development of new methods and techniques to be used in the laboratory. Serve as a methodology &quot;&quot;troubleshooter&quot;&quot; in investigating and correcting problems.&nbsp; May be responsible for the work of others during the temporary absence of the manager.&nbsp; Participate in continuing education programs.</li>\n\t<li>Draw blood samples.</li>\n\t<li>Perform routine, special and automated tests for which qualified in hematology, coagulation urinalysis, clinical chemistry, serology, and immunology.</li>\n\t<li>Set up, read, and report results of cultures in bacteriology.</li>\n\t<li>Make and read smears.</li>\n\t<li>Perform prescribed quality control procedure for all tests and record results in proper record books.</li>\n\t<li>Teach laboratory procedure to new laboratory personnel.</li>\n\t<li>Perform test procedures in accordance with the procedure manual.</li>\n\t<li>Inventory and request supplies and reagents as needed.</li>\n\t<li>Prepare reagents as needed.</li>\n\t<li>Maintain a neat and clean work area.</li>\n\t<li>Assist the physicians in any manner you can.</li>\n\t<li>Abide by the policies of this laboratory.</li>\n\t<li>Report test results to authorized personnel.</li>\n\t<li>Required to rotate between sections due to variations in workload, staffing and orientations programs.</li>\n\t<li>Required to rotate shifts with other laboratory personnel.</li>\n\t<li>Required to fill in at satellites.</li>\n\t<li>Print PE-7 log at satellites and record workload.</li>\n\t<li>Perform other job duties as assigned.</li>\n\t<li>Train and competency assess new employees.</li>\n\t<li>Inventory management, ordering all supplies.</li>\n\t<li>Quality control review and submission.</li>\n\t<li>Instrument maintenance responsibilities.</li>\n\t<li>Write and maintain all procedures including annual procedure review.</li>\n\t<li>Performance of calibration verification, linearity, 93) reagent lot validations.</li>\n\t<li>Trouble shoot all problems with technical support.</li>\n\t<li>Responsible for compliance with all CAP regulatory requirements for the section.</li>\n\t<li>Method correlation for all new tests added, plus precision, accuracy, carry over validations, normal range validations etc.</li>\n\t<li>Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.</li>\n\t<li>Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training &amp; accomplishments as required per policy.</li>\n\t<li>Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Education/Experience</strong><br/>\na) Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, or<br/>\nb) Three years of college plus one year of medical technology training, or<br/>\nc) Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences, plus one year of clinical laboratory work experience, or<br/>\nd) Has passed the HEW proficiency exam, or<br/>\ne) Is a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician with at least two (2) years previous supervisory experience.</p>\n\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Should be able to evaluate procedures, equipment and people (peers and subordinates).</li>\n\t<li>Must be able to supervise and teach others.</li>\n\t<li>Must be able to work under stress.</li>\n\t<li>Must be able to work independently.</li>\n\t<li>Must be able to recognize and identify the causes of problems (technical and instrumental), present alternatives and determine solutions.</li>\n\t<li>Must be able to perform complex analysis which may require many steps and variables.</li>\n\t<li>Must be able to communicate facts and ideas to a variety of people within and outside the laboratory.&nbsp; Responsible for own work and decisions.</li>\n\t<li>Must have an in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Working Environment</strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Laboratory setting.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>PHI/Privacy Level</strong><br/>\nHIPAA1</p>\n",
