The Healthy Home Academy is a workforce training organization based in Brewster, NY, dedicated to preparing individuals for careers in energy efficiency, high-efficiency HVAC, and healthy, resilient housing through hands-on, industry-aligned instruction. The Academy was created in 2021 after it was apparent that prospective employees were ill prepared for the eco-science building industry. The Academy has changed that by preparing graduates to be ready on day one in their new careers. This program is provided at no cost to participants through a full scholarship and is designed for individuals interested in starting a career in the clean energy and building trades, with a focus on improving home comfort, efficiency, and sustainability. This is a career training and job readiness program, not a traditional class. Participants who successfully complete the program will earn industry-recognized certifications, including BPI Building Science Principles, BPI Healthy Housing Principles, BPI Air Leakage Control Installer, and Department of Labor OSHA 10. Graduates will also receive job placement support. For more information about the training program, and prior to your interview, we encourage you to review the following: Home Performance Training Program Program Description This program focuses on how homes function as complete systems and how to improve comfort, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality. Training includes: Building science fundamentals Energy efficiency and weatherization concepts Air sealing and insulation practices Introduction to home performance testing and diagnostics Hands-on field experience in residential settings This is an immersive program that relies on full participation. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, actively engage in learning, and complete required assignments and exams. When program expectations are not met, continued participation may not be possible. Program length: 5 weeks Program Requirements To be considered, applicants must: Be a resident of a state-designated Disadvantaged Community (DAC). DACs are communities identified by New York State as facing higher environmental, health, and economic burdens.
