Description The Senior Manager Hull and Structure position is a high level technical leadership role that oversees all aspects of structural repairs and steelwork projects while a ship is in dry-dock. It demands advanced technical expertise in marine steelwork paired with strategic project management skills. The Senior Manager is accountable for ensuring steelwork repairs consistently meet the highest standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. By leveraging both technical knowledge and strong leadership, this role is instrumental in achieving successful dry-dock operations and maintaining our fleet's excellence. Essential Functions: Capital Project and Major Steelwork Program Leadership: Direct complex steelwork projects and programs from concept through execution and closeout, with accountability for planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, contractor coordination, and delivery results. Lead resolution of significant technical and operational issues, make risk-based decisions, and adjust execution strategies as needed to meet safety, quality, cost, and timeline objectives. Ensure successful delivery of high-impact structural work across operational, drydock, refurbishment, and repair environments. Steelwork Function Leadership and Team Development: Lead and develop a multidisciplinary steelwork function, including engineers, welders, fabricators, contractors, and consultants, to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes. Set performance expectations, assign priorities, build technical capability, and foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide senior-level technical leadership, coaching, and direction to team members and key stakeholders across the organization. Technology, Process Optimization, and Compliance: Evaluate, approve, and implement tools, technologies, and engineering solutions that improve vessel structural steelwork, execution efficiency, and asset availability while minimizing downtime. Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, reports, specifications, and project records to support sound decision-making, operational transparency, and regulatory compliance. Ensure compliance with all applicable maritime, environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements, as well as internal governance and quality standards. Oversee adherence to structural repair standards and serve as a senior point of accountability for risk identification, corrective actions, inspection readiness, and regulatory documentation. Technical Standards, Best Practices, and Functional Strategy: Own and advance technical standards, best practices, and repair methodologies for vessel steelwork and hull maintenance. Provide subject matter expertise on steel material selection, welding methods, structural integrity, corrosion protection, and construction techniques. Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset reliability, quality, and lifecycle performance. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Budget Management: Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning for hull and steel work projects. Drives continuous improvement in project delivery, operational efficiency, and sustainability, directly influencing company reputation. Ensures projects adhere to the highest standards of ethical behavior, compliance, and environmental stewardship, supporting the company’s commitment to global best practices. Impacts business partners by setting expectations for grievance management and remediation, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability. Anticipates and mitigates risks related to environmental impact, operational efficiency, and material readiness through structured due diligence and proactive stakeholder engagement. Resolves conflicts between national laws and international standards by seeking the highest applicable standard and ensuring compliance with global principles. Provides strategic direction and leadership to project teams, ensuring compliance with company policies and international standards. Continuous Improvement: Analyze logistics processes, implement improvements, and leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. Manages resources, budgets, and direct reports, fostering collaboration and accountability across departments and with external partners to achieve project goals and uphold company values. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marine, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture Strong understanding of marine operations. Familiarity with ship's structure and steel repairs, and environmental compliance standards. Proficiency in project management tools. Strategic Planning: Ability to translate organizational goals into multi-year plans, technical roadmaps, and project portfolios. Technical Problem Solving: Strong analytical and systems-thinking approach to evaluating complex technical challenges. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Project Delivery: Expertise in project scheduling, scoping, requirements management, quality control, and milestone tracking. Ability to manage multiple large-scale technical projects simultaneously, create structured processes, governance models, and reporting frameworks. Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence. Minimum 10 years of experience in project management of major hull and structure steel work and asset integrity management preferably within the cruise industry or shipyards Travel : 25-50% with shipboard travel likely Work Conditions: Work beyond normal business hours or on weekends may be required occasionally to support business needs, projects, or operations. Physical Demands: Requires regular movement throughout company facilities. This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
