Description

Vice President, Water/Wastewater Operations DISHER is partnering with a company on their search for a Vice President of Water/Wastewater Operations. The VP will be the senior leader for multi-site water and wastewater operations, responsible for overall performance, financial health, and strategic growth across a portfolio of municipal and private facilities in Michigan and Indiana. This is a key succession and growth role that will shape the next chapter of the organization. What it's like to work here: You’ll be joining an established organization with a strong reputation in the water and wastewater industry. The team is known for solving complex challenges and supporting communities and clients. Leaders are expected to help shape the future direction of the business and build teams that are both high‑performing and enjoyable to be part of. What you will get to do: Lead and develop regional managers, project managers, and plant managers responsible for operating multiple water and wastewater facilities. Set clear goals, standards, and priorities for safe, compliant, and efficient operations across the portfolio. Provide executive oversight for multi‑site operations, guiding troubleshooting, optimization, and adoption of best practices. Own P&L for the operations group, including budgeting, revenue growth, cost control, and margin improvement. Drive financial accountability down to regional and project managers, ensuring they understand how to run their part of the business. Build and nurture relationships with key municipal and private clients, serving as an executive‑level point of contact. Identify and pursue new business opportunities and expansions, including renewals, add‑on services, and new sites. Lead or support negotiations for major contracts, renewals, and pricing adjustments. Represent the company in industry settings and forums, reinforcing a strong reputation in the water/wastewater community. Foster a culture of professional growth, technical excellence, and leadership development. What will make you successful: A minimum of 10+ years of experience in water or wastewater operations, including multi‑site leadership and responsibility for a broad team. At least 5+ years in senior‑level management with P&L accountability and comfort making business decisions. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience in water/wastewater operations is also acceptable. Hands‑on understanding of how treatment plants actually run, paired with the ability to step back and lead strategically. Advanced water/wastewater operations certifications or equivalent experience. Strong client‑facing skills with the ability to build trust, navigate sensitive issues, and maintain long‑term relationships. A collaborative, coaching leadership style that emphasizes communication, development, and shared problem‑solving. Ability to travel regularly within Michigan and Indiana to visit sites, meet with clients, and connect with internal teams.
