Description
Hours : full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Location : Lynchburg, VA and Amherst, VA
NIGHT SHIFT: Three (3) shifts per week, working 6:00 PM to 6:30 Am (12.5 hours each)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Residential Technician focuses on supporting individual’s progress toward goals that are identified as meaningful by individuals and their support resources, as week as provide supports for the overall health and safety of all of the individuals.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma / GED Prior direct care experience is preferred. CNA certificate preferred but not required. RELATED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Horizon’s quality care standards to ensure service delivery supports Horizon’s mission and values. Knowledge of electronic health records and documentation standards as required by the program. Ability to effectively communicate verbally, person-to-person. Ability to implement training programs for the individuals. Safely assist individuals with all aspects of physical management including equipment use, safe lifting and physical assistance. Knowledge and ability to operate a computer, utilize and electronic health record, electronic timesheet, and other software/systems used by Horizon. Able to respond quickly to correct situations deemed to be hazardous, especially to consumers. Knowledge and ability to use personal protective equipment in a manner that is compliant with standard precautions and safety expectations. Ability to drive and must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients, provide services to clients at other locations. Regular attendance at trainings and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites. Ability to work productively and accomplish program and individual goals with minimal supervision. Ability to record data accurately within established expectations and by communicated deadlines. Ability to locate and interpret facts and make decisions based on established procedures and protocols. Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner. Ability to work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Willing and able to work modified schedules (weekends, holidays, etc.) as required. Ability to participate in and successfully pass behavioral intervention training; includes both verbal de-escalation skills and physical skills techniques to be utilized with consumers as needed.
