If you&rsquo;re a seasoned inspector ready to advance your career and contribute to the delivery of critical transportation projects, we&rsquo;d like to hear from you.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Oversee contractor operations to ensure compliance with contract documents, design specifications, and permit requirements.</li><li>Coordinate inspection activities across multiple active work crews.</li><li>Track daily work quantities and complete detailed inspection documentation.</li><li>Prepare daily reports, monthly estimates, and as-built drawings.</li><li>Conduct field inspections, materials testing, and maintain accurate testing logs.</li><li>Review and validate contractor pay estimates.</li><li>Support project engineers with field data, sketches, and reports.</li><li>Maintain project diaries and document deficiencies or field issues.</li><li>Review contractor schedules (CPM and monthly updates).</li><li>Communicate regularly with engineers, owners, and stakeholders to maintain alignment and transparency.</li><li>Uphold a proactive, solution-oriented approach throughout all phases of construction.</li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate required; <strong>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree preferred</strong>.</li><li><strong>3+ years</strong> of hands-on construction inspection experience with an emphasis on <strong>roadway, bridge, utility construction</strong>, and <strong>pavement rehabilitation</strong>.</li><li>Proficiency in interpreting plans, specifications, and technical drawings.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Valid driver&rsquo;s license with a clean driving record.</li><li>Comfortable working night shifts and overtime as required.</li><li>Solid computer skills, including proficiency with <strong>Microsoft Word and Excel</strong>.</li></ul><p><strong>Certifications &amp; Training (Required):</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>VDOT materials certifications</strong>in:<ul type=\"circle\"><li>Asphalt (Asphalt Field Level I &amp; II)</li><li>Soils and Aggregate Compaction</li><li>Pavement Marking</li></ul></li><li><strong>VDOT Intermediate Work Zone Safety</strong> or <strong>ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS)</strong></li><li><strong>WACEL or ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I</strong></li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Additional VDOT certifications: <strong>GRIT, Slurry, Surface Treatment</strong></li><li><strong>DEQ Erosion &amp; Sediment Control Inspector</strong></li><li><strong>DEQ Stormwater Management Inspector</strong></li><li><strong>OSHA-10 Construction Safety</strong></li><li><strong>e-Construction platform experience (</strong>PlanGrid, e-Builder, Procore, Fieldwire, etc.)</li><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree or advanced technical certifications</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements (Essential Functions):</strong></p><p>This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include:&nbsp;</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces</li><li>Moving around active project sites, which may involve climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles</li><li>Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing</li><li>Remaining in a stationary position&mdash;either standing or sitting&mdash;for extended periods of time</li><li>Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers</li><li>Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and/or carting objects up to 50 lbs distances up to100 yards. &nbsp;</li><li>Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 120 miles round trip.</li><li>Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document.</li><li>Work from heights exceeding 6 feet</li><li>Must be able to wear a properly fitted safety harness and be knowledgeable of the correct use and of regular inspection of the harness and components</li><li><strong>Must be willing to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment</strong></li></ul><p>The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements.
