JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: THERAPIST, JUVENILE REDEPLOY PROGRAM
GRADE: 21
SALARY: $81,603
LOCATION: 1100 SOUTH HAMILTON AVE., CHICAGO, ILLINOIS AND AS ASSIGNED
The Redeploy Therapist is an employee of the Circuit Court of Cook County and reports directly to the Director of Juvenile Redeploy Services or their designee. They function as the therapist on all assigned cases. This is a countywide position, and the therapist will be able to see the youth in their home and community.
JOB SUMMARY AND DUTIES
The Redeploy Therapist: Receives assigned cases for therapy. These referrals may be received in person and through the cFive case management system. Administers the approved youth assessment instrument from Illinois Dept. of Human Services. Conducts screening, evaluation and clinical psychosocial histories in accordance with the DSM-5/DSM-5-TR, for youth referred. Provides individual and group therapy services to assigned youth. Provides crisis intervention to Redeploy youth when needed. Provides psycho-educational groups based on evidence-based practices to Redeploy youth that include anger management, parenting skills, others as assigned/needed. Participates in wrap-around meetings and staffings on assigned youth. Creates individualized treatment plans Assists in resource linkage for Redeploy youth Provides consultations to Redeploy staff regarding clinical issues involving youth. Provides court reports when requested Monitors and tracks all Redeploy referrals and maintains up to date information for the Court; the Director of Juvenile Redeploy Services and for evaluation purposes. Communicates with Redeploy sites weekly for up to date information on referrals including intake case and active cases Utilizes case management systems provided by the County and State to include: data input, inputting notes, extracting data and producing reports. Participates in regular staffings with the Director of Juvenile Redeploy Services or their designee regarding their assigned cases Is available to the Court and the parties to provide advice, answer questions and educate on the Juvenile Redeploy model. Work with interns assigned to the Redeploy Program Represents the Circuit Court with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public; Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Juvenile Redeploy Services. The duties listed are not set forth for the purpose of limiting the assignment of work. They are not to be construed as a complete list of the duties to be performed under the job title or those to be performed temporarily outside an employee’s line of work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The Redeploy therapist must have a Master’s degree in social work or counseling from an accredited college or university.
Licensure in the State of Illinois as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) is required. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) is preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience in the human services field is required, with a preference of experience working with youth in the juvenile justice system.
Required Knowledge and Skills Knowledge/experience in the field of substance abuse treatment and trauma informed care. Ability to make accurate DMS-5/DSM-5TR diagnoses Knowledge of best clinical practices and treatment Certification in prescribed evidence-based treatment within 90 days of hire Certification in prescribed youth assessment instrument within 90 days of hire Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in the development and implementation of service delivery programs. Principles and practices of social service delivery, including crisis intervention, particularly in relation to children, youth and families. Computer applications related to the work. Valid driver’s license and working vehicle for travel to multiple job sites Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone, often where relations may be confrontational or strained. Principles and techniques of making effective oral presentations. Ability to: Work collaboratively as part of a team Perform all duties described above
Physical Requirements:
Lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. Be available to work in-person 100% of the scheduled work week. Be able to walk for short distances and climb stairs. Be able to travel throughout Cook County Ability to intermittently twist to reach equipment and supplies. Be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time. Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation. Be able to use a telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
Other Requirements: Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule to include early evening shift (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on at least two days. Meet annual training requirement; Maintain licensure as outlined in minimum qualifications This position requires a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
