OUR UNIVERSITY
Ottawa University (established in 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, is a multi-campus system serving approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (Ottawa, Kansas- Residential Campus and Overland Park, Kansas- Adult Programs); Arizona (Surprise Residential Campus and OUAZ Adult Programs); Wisconsin (Brookfield Adult Programs); and our OU ONLINE PROGRAM based out of Overland Park, Kansas.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing leadership to the Angell Snyder School of Business, students, faculty and related community constituencies. Senior administrator of the School providing leadership for all related academic programs, instruction activity, academic-related policy/procedures, scholarly endeavors, community engagement, and support of funding development initiatives (fund development support in cooperation with the Advancement department). The Dean will develop a strategic plan for the School consistent with the University’s new strategic plan that fosters the University’s initiative’s as well as (1) continue and develop standards of excellence for the School through data-driven programs --curriculum assessment and development, (2) advocate scholarship and intellectual engagement, (3) support student recruitment and retention (4) explore and facilitate opportunities in related personnel development and build an exceptional faculty, (5) manage the financial, intellectual and material resources of the School as designated (6) foster a culture of excellence, inclusion, openness, and community with faculty, staff, and students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):
Continue and develop standards of excellence for the School through data-driven programs --curriculum assessment and development:
Provide overall strategic management of the School and monitor School performance, as well as continually institute performance improvements.
Monitor academic program distribution (site operations) including instruction, facilities, schedules, assessment, student services, and the overall academic program quality.
Lead the development, review, improvement, or, if appropriate, discontinuation of programs to ensure the highest quality learning and financial outcomes.
Monitor and collect all relevant data and analysis on programs and student enrollment including retention, persistence, graduation rates, enrollment in majors, faculty, program costs, etc.
Build a data-driven program with strategies based on: (a) the assessment of student learning and program reviews, (b) data analysis, (c) assessment of delivery effectiveness and program outcomes, (d) defined course competencies, and (e) accreditation and regulatory standards.
Maintain business program accreditation through ACBSP.
Continue to grow and support business programs for international students.
Advocate scholarship and intellectual engagement:
Understand student learners and their concerns. Work with faulty to ensure that curriculum: (a) is meaningful, (b) is relevant and appropriate to student needs, (c) meets discipline and workplace expectations, and (d) includes rubrics tied to competencies that deliver desired outcomes, clear sequences, and pre-requisites.
Develop, foster, and assess Ottawa University’s academic endeavors to ensure programs are high quality and designed to meet the needs of both traditional age and adult learners (face-to-face and online).
Support student recruitment and retention:
Work closely with academic advisors and leaders to ensure students’ needs are well defined and addressed.
Serve as an advocate for inclusion, openness, and community in the classroom related to faculty assignment and hiring.
Support and foster retention efforts that improve the success and well-being of students.
Work closely with enrollment management personnel to ensure that recruiting and retention obligations are met. Serve as a major resource and advocate to Enrollment Management.
Explore and facilitate opportunities in related personnel development and build an exceptional faculty:
Provide executive management of the School and related faculty including training, development, evaluation, and general administration.
Ensure faculty are adequately and appropriately credentialed, qualified, and experienced to teach, are highly engaged in their teaching, and participate in the academic life of the School.
Review, monitor, and audit faculty (including adjunct) teaching loads, committee assignments, and professional activities to provide balance and equity while satisfying teaching responsibilities within the School and University.
Endeavor to ensure all instruction within the School reflects current knowledge in the field and is delivered by highly qualified faculty.
Recruit, mentor, and supervise School Department Chairs
Manage the financial, intellectual, and material resources of the School as designated.
Provide oversight of the School’s budget and financial-related activities.
Participate in internal and external School-related activities, and endeavor to enhance the School's reputation within the professional communities it serves.
Serve as a visible academic leader to foster awareness of the School and University.
Assist in developing and expanding the School into new/different markets, including corporate and international initiatives.
Assist in fund/friend raising for the School.
Represent the School and the University through regular attendance and participation in meetings throughout the University related to the School.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity):
A terminal degree in a field related to the School or a Doctorate in higher education administration.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: ( experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity)
Five years of successful leadership experience at the chair, dean or similar role required.
