    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><strong>CONSTRUCTION&nbsp;SERVICES&nbsp;PRACTICE</strong></p>\n<p>Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers,&nbsp;estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.</p>\n<p><strong>What We're Looking For:</strong></p>\n<p>Michael Baker is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our construction services team!&nbsp;The Construction Inspector will be responsible for monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and applicable codes. This role plays a critical part in maintaining quality, schedule adherence, and public safety throughout construction.</p>\n<p><strong>What You'll Do:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Inspect construction activities related to storm sewer installation, including trenching, bedding, pipe placement, jointing, backfill, and surface restoration.</li>\n <li>Verify materials, workmanship, and construction methods comply with approved plans, specifications, and contract documents.</li>\n <li>Observe and document contractor compliance with project safety requirements, traffic control plans, and environmental regulations.</li>\n <li>Perform field measurements, maintain daily inspection reports, and document quantities, progress, and any non‑conforming work.</li>\n <li>Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to resolve field issues and clarify construction requirements.</li>\n <li>Identify potential constructability issues and proactively communicate concerns to the project team.</li>\n <li>Witness testing and inspections, including compaction testing, pressure/leak testing, and alignment checks.</li>\n <li>Track and report changes, delays, and field conditions that may impact schedule or cost.</li>\n <li>Maintain accurate records including photographs, logs, and as‑built information.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What You Need to Succeed:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>\n <li>3+ years of construction inspection experience, with a strong focus on underground utilities or storm sewer systems.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of storm sewer construction practices, materials (RCP, HDPE, PVC, box culverts), and installation methods.</li>\n <li>Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.</li>\n</ul>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\"><strong>Compensation</strong></p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0in\">The approximate compensation range for this position is $26/hr - $38/hr. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.&nbsp; Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.</p>",
