Description

What is the purpose of the Business Development Manager role? The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving Snapper’s sales and revenue growth through the identification, development, and conversion of new business opportunities across New Zealand and Australia, with a specific focus on Mosaiq, Snapper’s transit intelligence platform. Mosaiq is Snapper’s data and insights capability that enables transport authorities and operators to better understand and optimise their networks. It brings together operational and behavioural transport data to support smarter planning, improved service delivery, and better outcomes for passengers and communities. This is a client-facing, commercial role designed for an experienced business development professional who is confident operating in complex environments, building trusted relationships, and driving outcomes across the full sales cycle. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to deliver solutions that improve public transport network performance and customer outcomes. The Business Development Manager reports to the Head of Business Development and Partnerships. This role has no direct reports. Key relationships include internal revenue, product, delivery, and customer success teams, as well as senior stakeholders across customer organisations. Based in Wellington, NZ, with regular travel required across New Zealand and Australia. What success looks like in this role You will play a key role in growing Mosaiq’s presence and impact across New Zealand and Australia. Specifically your success in the role will likely include these things : Building and converting a strong pipeline of new Mosaiq opportunities across NZ and AU Achieving and exceeding new business revenue targets Developing trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across transport authorities, operators, and government agencies Managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles through to commercial close Leading opportunities from early engagement through to contract execution Bringing structure and momentum to complex procurement processes Contributing market insights that inform product, pricing, and commercial strategy Strengthening Snapper’s presence and reputation across the transport sector in NZ and Australia Working closely with internal teams to ensure strong customer outcomes and delivery This is a high-impact, hands-on commercial role with significant autonomy and regular travel across NZ and Australia. Working closely with our product marketing and customer success teams will be a key part of really making it work. What does the Business Development Manager do? This role is responsible for driving new commercial growth for Mosaiq across NZ and Australia. Specifically, you will: Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities Own the full sales lifecycle from early engagement through to close Build and manage a strong, qualified pipeline within the transport and mobility sector Engage senior stakeholders across transport authorities, operators, and government agencies Shape solutions in collaboration with Product, Delivery, and Customer Success teams Manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and procurement processes Lead commercial negotiations and support contract execution Maintain disciplined pipeline management using CRM systems Represent Snapper at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings across NZ and AU Provide market insights to inform product and commercial decisions Support go-to-market planning through customer and industry feedback Focus on long-term customer value and successful outcomes You will work closely with Product, Delivery, Customer Success, and Marketing to ensure alignment in delivering great customer outcomes and a consistent Snapper/Mosaiq experience. What will you need to be successful in this role? Proven experience in business development or complex B2B sales roles (SaaS, transport, infrastructure, or data/analytics experience advantageous) Strong track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets Experience managing end-to-end, multi-stakeholder sales cycles Confidence engaging senior decision-makers in government, enterprise, and transport sectors Strong commercial acumen with ability to identify, shape, and close commercial opportunities Excellent pipeline management skills and experience using CRM systems Strong proven capability in communication and influencing for business development Experience working within structured procurement environments Ability to operate confidently independently and still stay connected to the team Alignment with Snapper’s values and ethos around delivering excellent public transit experiences What it means to work at Snapper We’re proud of the work we do and the impact it has enabling and creating excellent public transit experiences and contributing to a more sustainable world.
