Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews. We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job Summary:<span> </span></span>As a Concrete Finisher at Whitaker Construction, you will play a vital role in our construction projects by ensuring that concrete surfaces are expertly finished to meet our high-quality standards. Your primary responsibilities will include setting forms, spreading and smoothing concrete, monitoring curing processes, and directing casting activities. You will collaborate closely with our construction team to deliver exceptional results while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining efficient workflow. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of concrete finishing experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety. If you are skilled, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to join our team and contribute to the success of our projects.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Core Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Set forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them.</li>\n<li>Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed.</li>\n<li>Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.</li>\n<li>Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.</li>\n<li>Direct the casting of the concrete and supervise laborers who use shovels or specialty tools.</li>\n<li>Produce rough concrete surface, using broom.</li>\n<li>Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, or straightedge.</li>\n<li>Signal truck driver to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete and moving chute, to direct concrete into forms.</li>\n<li>Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete.</li>\n<li>Operate power vibrator to compact concrete.</li>\n<li>Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete.</li>\n<li>Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete.</li>\n<li>Waterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds.</li>\n<li>Wet concrete surface and rub with stone to smooth surface and obtain specified finish.</li>\n<li>Wet surface to prepare for bonding, fill holes and cracks with grout, slurry, or epoxy.</li>\n<li>Direct subgrade work, mixing concrete, and setting forms for beams, columns, and panels.</li>\n<li>Mix cement, sand, and water to produce concrete, grout, or slurry, using hoe, trowel, tamper, scraper, or concrete-mixing machine.</li>\n<li>Perform clean-up in connection with the work.</li>\n<li>Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and standards of safety.</li>\n<li>Assist Construction Laborers with labor duties.</li>\n<li>Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by supervisors.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"> Requirements and Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.</li>\n<li>Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.).</li>\n<li>A minimum of 3 years of concrete finishing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li>\n<li>Display a willing attitude to learn from others.</li>\n<li>Possess a strong sense of personal responsibility.</li>\n<li>Focus to work safely in close proximity to equipment, co-workers, and surroundings.</li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively in a team environment.</li>\n<li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Requirements:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours.</li>\n<li>Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently.</li>\n<li>Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards.</li>\n<li>Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Whitaker Construction offers an exceptional benefit package including:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
