Description
This position is a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.
This position will offer you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant electrical systems.
Responsibilities include:
Under the direction of the electrical engineering lead or project manager, this position will offer you the opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing nuclear power plant electrical systems
You will work on challenging assignments that include investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues or design new electrical engineering systems.
Assist the electrical engineering lead or project manager in efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget.
Prepare and review detailed calculations, including three phase AC and DC power studies, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting and protective relay settings.
Prepare engineering documentation for design input for drawing production.
Prepare and review engineering reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations and drawing preparation.
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:
A BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required
5 or more years of experience in the design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment with a focus on integrated, detailed system design, or modifications or replacements of existing systems; experience should include the selection of equipment, materials, control philosophy, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications
Experience is required with electrical system design including medium and low voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors), equipment selection, and analytical calculations
Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others
Effective critical thinking and problem solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effective working in teams and individual work
Detail oriented approach to work
Valued but not required skills and experience:
PE license
MSEE
Experience with design and analysis of power plant and/or industrial structures
Construction and start-up experience a plus

Leaders in these roles often direct automation and process-improvement work, for example, how teams automate calculations, summarize technical documents, or generate design documentation and guiding when and how AI or agentic AI tools are used while ensuring results are checked.
Overseeing engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs, is valued but not required.
