Job Summary: Rag & Bone is seeking a Designer / Senior Designer specializing in Men’s Sweaters and Knitwear to lead the design and development of the men’s sweater category. This role will partner closely with the Design Director and cross-functional teams to create innovative knitwear that reflects the brand’s heritage-inspired, modern New York aesthetic. The Designer / Sr. Designer will drive seasonal concept development, yarn and stitch innovation, and technical execution across the sweater assortment while ensuring alignment with overall seasonal direction, merchandising strategy, and brand DNA. Responsibilities: Research & Inspiration Lead seasonal research focused on knitwear innovation, vintage inspiration, yarn development, and stitch techniques Identify opportunities for new knit constructions, textures, and silhouettes aligned with brand direction Translate inspiration into compelling seasonal sweater concepts that support the overall collection Design Ownership Own the Men’s Sweater category , including pullovers, cardigans, novelty knits, and seasonal knitwear programs Create original sketches, stitch layouts, and yarn/material proposals Develop thoughtful color stories and knit structures that align with seasonal palettes and brand aesthetic Development Create detailed tech packs and design sheets for knitwear development Partner with Product Development and Technical Design to ensure clarity on stitch patterns, gauge, yarn specifications, and construction Oversee knitwear trim and detail development including rib structures, plackets, and finishing techniques Fittings & Product Execution Attend weekly fittings from prototype through production to ensure fit, proportion, and knit construction integrity Provide feedback on yarn performance, stitch execution, and finishing details Presentation Present sweater concepts at sketch, prototype, and SMS stages Clearly articulate design ideas and knitwear innovation to internal teams, Creative Director, and cross-functional partners Organization Maintain and update seasonal knitwear boards and concept development tools Track sweater development progress across the calendar and key milestones Collaboration Work closely with Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design to ensure product alignment with assortment strategies Partner with teams to deliver commercially relevant and technically strong knitwear Team Contribution Support seasonal design reviews, proto reviews, and market preparation Contribute to the overall creative development of the men’s collection Requirements (Skills, Qualifications, Education) Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field experience 5–8+ years’ experience in knitwear design preferred Strong technical knowledge of sweater construction, yarns, gauges, and stitch development Deep understanding of knitwear fabrication, yarn sourcing, and garment finishing techniques Strong aesthetic sensibility aligned with modern American menswear Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple seasonal deadlines Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Experience with PLM systems and tools such as Miro a plus Rules we live by | Rules you live by Be a Good Human - Be original, be authentic. This role will partner closely with the Design Director and cross-functional teams to create innovative knitwear that reflects the brand’s heritage-inspired, modern New York aesthetic.\n The Designer / Sr. Designer will drive seasonal concept development, yarn and stitch innovation, and technical execution across the sweater assortment while ensuring alignment with overall seasonal direction, merchandising strategy, and brand DNA.\n Responsibilities:\n Research & Inspiration Lead seasonal research focused on knitwear innovation, vintage inspiration, yarn development, and stitch techniques\n Identify opportunities for new knit constructions, textures, and silhouettes aligned with brand direction\n Translate inspiration into compelling seasonal sweater concepts that support the overall collection\n Design Ownership Own the Men’s Sweater category , including pullovers, cardigans, novelty knits, and seasonal knitwear programs\n Create original sketches, stitch layouts, and yarn/material proposals\n Develop thoughtful color stories and knit structures that align with seasonal palettes and brand aesthetic\n Development Create detailed tech packs and design sheets for knitwear development\n Partner with Product Development and Technical Design to ensure clarity on stitch patterns, gauge, yarn specifications, and construction\n Oversee knitwear trim and detail development including rib structures, plackets, and finishing techniques\n Fittings & Product Execution Attend weekly fittings from prototype through production to ensure fit, proportion, and knit construction integrity\n Provide feedback on yarn performance, stitch execution, and finishing details\n Presentation Present sweater concepts at sketch, prototype, and SMS stages\n Clearly articulate design ideas and knitwear innovation to internal teams, Creative Director, and cross-functional partners\n Organization Maintain and update seasonal knitwear boards and concept development tools\n Track sweater development progress across the calendar and key milestones\n Collaboration Work closely with Merchandising, Product Development, and Technical Design to ensure product alignment with assortment strategies\n Partner with teams to deliver commercially relevant and technically strong knitwear\n Team Contribution Support seasonal design reviews, proto reviews, and market preparation\n Contribute to the overall creative development of the men’s collection\n Requirements (Skills, Qualifications, Education) Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field experience\n 5–8+ years’ experience in knitwear design preferred\n Strong technical knowledge of sweater construction, yarns, gauges, and stitch development\n Deep understanding of knitwear fabrication, yarn sourcing, and garment finishing techniques\n Strong aesthetic sensibility aligned with modern American menswear\n Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple seasonal deadlines\n Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop\n Experience with PLM systems and tools such as Miro a plus\n Rules we live by | Rules you live by\n Be a Good Human - Be original, be authentic.
