The target population to be served under this initiative is youth who have been a part of the juvenile justice system and are court ordered to be placed in a shelter. The YMCA&rsquo;s recruitment process includes comprehensive background screening including pre-employment drug test and criminal background check and upon hire, wide range of training.</p><p><strong>Summary of Essential Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Provide counseling and crisis intervention for youth in the Youth Emergency Shelter.</li><li>Orient trial visitors and participate as part of the assessment team to make recommendations.</li><li>Oversee youth vocational, educational, recreational, and practical arts programming.</li><li>Assist with referrals and outside contacts as needed for youth programming; evaluate and follow up on the effectiveness of the program.&nbsp;</li><li>Monitor assigned youth finances through budgeting appointments.&nbsp;</li><li>Transport youth as needed to events, medical appointments, etc. in accordance with Newark YMCA Transportation Policy.</li><li>Conduct daily site checks according to the procedures and licensing standards.&nbsp;</li><li>Monitor youth needs as needed during the day shifts, Monday through Friday.</li><li>Provide coverage for the Youth Emergency Shelter and complete all scheduled activities as assigned.</li><li>Provide coverage when assigned relief staff fails is unable to attend work.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide awake overnight coverage as needed.</li><li>Participate in fire drills, smoke alarm and fire extinguisher checks according to licensing standards as assigned.</li><li>Perform proper procedures in recording and dispensing medication according to licensing standards.</li><li>Maintain the cleanliness of the Children&rsquo;s Shelter to meet health and safety records.</li><li>Complete all paperwork assigned, including but not limited to Critical Incident Reports and Individual Treatment Plan goals accurately and in a timely manner.</li><li>Maintain Daily Logbook and report all incidents to proper Youth Emergency Shelter Department authorities such as the Program Director and/or Case Manager immediately.</li><li>Assist in the file maintenance and documentation of contacts needed for youth programming.</li><li>Attend staff meetings and any scheduled training sessions as required.</li><li>Maintain a safe work environment, free of clutter, debris and hazardous conditions and ensure cleanliness of facility.</li><li>Provide excellent customer service and care for all including but not limited to internal and external customers /members/ residents/ visitors/ clients/ patrons/ vendors/ suppliers/ members of public/volunteers/staff.</li><li>Demonstrate and model the YMCA&rsquo;s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.</li><li>Perform such other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned by the Supervisor.</li><li>Adhere to Abuse Risk Management policies:<ul><li>Adhere to policies related to boundaries with program participants.</li><li>Attend required abuse risk management training.</li><li>Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising program participants.</li><li>Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.</li><li>Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.</li></ul></li></ul><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum three years of experience within the Social Service Field particularly working with youth.&nbsp;</li><li>Sufficient computer skills.&nbsp;</li><li>Sufficient verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Sufficient&nbsp;administrative skills.</li><li>Excellent Human Relations skills&nbsp;.</li><li>Ability to communicate with a wide variety of constituents in a professional manner, displaying tact and diplomacy when needed.</li><li>Ability to&nbsp;work on Holidays.</li><li>CPR/AED certification required (or must be obtained within 60 days of hire).</li><li>New Jersey valid Driver&rsquo;s license and safe driving record required.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong>Vacant Shifts:&nbsp;</strong>12:00AM - 8:00AM and <span id=\"isPasted\" style=\"color: rgb(65, 65, 65); font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; display: inline !important; float: none;\">4:00PM - 12:00AM</span>&nbsp; Weekdays and Weekends</p><p><em>Part Time Employees require to work minimum 2 to 4 Shifts Per Week</em></p><p><em><strong id=\"isPasted\">This is an opportunity to impact the communities we serve and make a long-lasting and positive difference in the lives of others who need support!</strong></em></p><br><ul><li><strong>The YMCA of Newark and Vicinity is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
