DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Factory-Built Substation (FBS) Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria Facility in our Assembly Department. An FBS Technician, as part of a team, assembles custom factory-built substations. The FBS Technician is responsible for reading blueprints, erecting steel, assembling, and operating machinery and more. This individual must be able to perform duties with speed and accuracy to produce a quality product and keep a steady flow of products. Positions and aligns parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery, and hand tools. Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and common power tools. Moves parts safely into position, manually or with hoists or cranes. Keeps the warehouse property in order, including but not limited to routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities and regular and preventative maintenance on all Company equipment and machinery. Attends safety meetings as requested / instructed. Operates all machinery and equipment, including the Company’s forklift, in a safe manner always. Promotes company goals. Works to displays an excellent safety record EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent required. Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measurer, rules, and combination squares required. Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) required. Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screw driver etc. required. Experience working in a Warehouse or Manufacturing environment preferred.
