This position is responsible instructing group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that welcomes people of all skill and fitness levels. Effectively builds community within the class. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</strong></p><ol><li>Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.&nbsp;</li><li>Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.&nbsp;</li><li>Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.</li><li>Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA.</li><li>Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants&rsquo; capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.</li><li>Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.</li><li>Keeps accurate class attendance records.</li><li>Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.<strong>&nbsp;</strong></li></ol><p><strong>LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES:</strong></p><ul><li>Communication &amp; Influence</li><li>Engaging Community &nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><ul><li>Must be at least 18 years old.</li><li>High School Diploma / GED required.</li><li>CPR/AED and First Aid Certifications required within 30 days of hire.</li><li>Highly attentive to detail.</li><li>Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.</li><li>Current certification to be an instructor in discipline desired to instruct. &nbsp; Credentialing as required by state law for course to be taught or administered. &nbsp;Proof of certification and/or credentials required. &nbsp;</li><li>At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT &amp; PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. &nbsp;Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</li><li>The employee frequently is required to move around and teach, and must be able to move around the work environment.</li><li>The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.</li><li>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.</li><li>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</li></ul></div></div></div></div>\n",
