Combining hands-on work experience, classroom work readiness training, formal customer service education, skills certification and financial literacy classes, Cookie Cart helps teens develop the foundational tools they need to be successful in education and career in North Minneapolis and Saint Paul&rsquo;s East Side. We are an equal opportunity employer/program provider.<br>&nbsp;Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.</p><p><strong>Hourly Wage:</strong>&nbsp;$13.25 per hour&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Timeline of Position:</strong> 6 - 10 weeks</p><p><strong>Work Schedule:&nbsp;</strong>Varies</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Hours are assigned based on commitment level&nbsp;</li><li>1-3 weekday shifts, average between 3-9 hours per week during the school year&nbsp;</li><li>Shift hours are generally:<ul type=\"circle\"><li>Monday-Friday 4-7PM&nbsp;</li><li>Saturday and Sunday 11:00 &ndash; 5:00</li><li>Additional opportunities may be available.&nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Employees must maintain good attendance to scheduled work shifts, a positive attitude toward work and coworkers and the ability to follow through on assigned work tasks. &nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Experience and Qualifications&nbsp;</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>No previous Cookie Cart experience</li><li>Age: 15 &ndash; 17&nbsp;</li><li>GPA: 2.0 or higher (must submit copy of grades with application)&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Primary Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p><ol><li>Classroom Learning<ul><li>You will be enrolled in program-related training sessions throughout your work experience. Training will include:<ol><li>Foundations</li><li>Leadership</li><li>Financial Literacy</li><li>Bright Futures</li><li>Other &ndash; More are being developed!</li></ol></li></ul></li><li>Cookie Production &nbsp;<ul><li>Process cookie dough by scooping nine different varieties of cookie dough using Cookie Cart sanitary procedures &amp; best practices.&nbsp;</li><li>Assist in cookie production by helping to prepare cookie dough for baking. &nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Cleaning/Sanitation&nbsp;<ul><li>Clean and sanitize the bakery including the kitchen, lobby, bathrooms, inventory room, laundry, staff offices and storefront daily.&nbsp;</li><li>Customer Service &nbsp;</li><li>Provide superior customer service by greeting customers at lobby counter, take and fill cookie orders.&nbsp;</li><li>Prepare delivery orders which range in size from one dozen to 200 dozen, and often include special packaging or gifting orders. &nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Other Duties Assigned<ul><li>There may be other opportunities made available to you by different departments internally or with our community partners available during your time at Cookie Cart that would be valuable to your work experience</li></ul></li></ol><p><strong>Classroom Learning through Cookie Cart&nbsp;</strong></p><ol><li>Foundations - The lessons in Foundations focus on helping new Cookie Cart recruits understand and develop the skills they need to be successful on the job. This includes relatively functional competencies such as safety, hygiene and basic employee rights and responsibilities, and more nuanced topics such as communication with supervisors and peers, dealing with conflict, and character building. At the facilitators&rsquo; discretion, youth may also begin training in sales, marketing and customer service during this time.&nbsp;</li><li>Leadership - Once participants have successfully completed the Foundations lessons, they move on to Leadership. For some youth these lessons will culminate in being promoted to Cart Captain. The focus is on critical thinking, becoming a peer leader and mentor, resolving conflicts with others and between others, and more advance communication, including sales, marketing, and customer service.</li><li>Financial Literacy - Around every corner teens are facing important financial decisions, yet surveys show that many teens lack everyday economic and financial knowledge. For that very reason, Cookie Cart has partnered with local financial institutions to develop a hands-on curriculum that covers the essential building blocks of personal finance. Our teen employees receive invaluable life training on: &nbsp;<ul><li>budgeting and saving&nbsp;</li><li>checking accounts&nbsp;</li><li>credit and credit cards &nbsp;</li></ul></li><li>Bright Futures - These lessons prepare young people to transition out of their positions at Cookie Cart and into a next job. Youth are encouraged to think about and explore possibilities, and look for jobs that are a good fit for their interests, skills, strengths, goals and values. Each lesson walks participants through a part of the job seeking process (searching, applying, interviewing, follow-up) using real-life examples and role plays. This phase culminates with a celebration of all that they have worked on and accomplished.&nbsp;</li></ol><p><strong>Credential Learning through Cookie Cart</strong></p><ol><li>National Career Readiness Certification - At Cookie Cart we are proud to offer our teens the chance to take the National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). This is a certification issued by ACT showing prospective employers that a teen has the foundational skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.
