    "description": "<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position:</span> Food Security Worker<br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Department:</span> Eskasoni Mental Health Services<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Reports to:</span> Food Security Coordinator<br><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Status:</span> Full-Time (37.5 hours per week) Unionized</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">About the Opportunity</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Under the Eskasoni Mental Health Food security program, the Food Security Worker will play an integral role in advancing community food security by supporting the delivery of programs and initiatives that increase access to nutritious and affordable food. Reporting to the Food Security Coordinator, this position encompasses program operations, client support, education, and community collaboration.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in the operation of food pantries, social supermarkets, and meal programs (sorting, stocking, distribution)</li>\n<li>Ensure proper food handling and storage in accordance with food safety guidelines</li>\n<li>Maintain accurate records of inventory, distribution, and client data</li>\n<li>Support the delivery of workshops on nutrition, cooking, budgeting, and food resource management</li>\n<li>Develop and distribute educational materials</li>\n<li>Participate in outreach and community engagement activities</li>\n<li>Build and maintain relationships with community partners</li>\n<li>Support implementation of food security initiatives and programs</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma (minimum required)</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-secondary education is an asset</li>\n<li>Knowledge of community resources and food assistance programs</li>\n<li>Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively</li>\n<li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working with vulnerable populations and/or food security programs preferred</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience working with Indigenous populations</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Cultural Knowledge &amp; Skills</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowledge of community-based supports and services</li>\n<li>Respect for Mi’kmaw culture, values, and community practices</li>\n<li>Ability to speak/understand Mi’kmaq considered an asset</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Additional Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check and clear Sexual Abuse Registry check required</li>\n<li>Training in First Aid and Food Handlers Course (provided upon hire if outdated or needed)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Application Process</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Interested internal applicants are encouraged to submit a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">cover letter and updated resume</span> outlining their qualifications and interest in this position through this bambooHR link by 4:00pm June 12,2026.</p>",
