Position Summary:
The Dean of Online and Digital Learning will provide leadership for instructional quality in and assessment of online undergraduate and graduate courses. The Dean will collaborate with academic divisions to assess and enhance instruction and pedagogy in online courses and programs, oversee the virtual learning environment, lead the online advising and support team, provide engaging student development and experience initiatives, and work with the Provost to develop and implement a comprehensive faculty development program to support online student enrollment and retention. The Dean will engage in rigorous, data-informed planning to enhance the quality of all online learning experiences.
Qualifications
Essential Job Functions:
The essential functions of the exempt staff position include, but are not limited to:
Assess, develop and implement policies and procedures to improve quality of online courses.
Assess and address student satisfaction with online learning, technology, and support.
Assess and ensure compliance with SACSCOC, Department of Education, and other applicable state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
Mentor and direct the online advising team.
Mentor and direct the instructional design team.
Assess and recommend new technologies to support course quality and online pedagogy.
Collaborate with Student Success staff on student graduation and retention efforts, especially strategies related to course design and pedagogy.
Complete a needs assessment of all online instructors.
Collaborate with deans and program chairs/directors to identify, hire, and evaluate well-qualified adjuncts to teach in online programs.
Develop and provide continuous training and professional development opportunities for all online faculty.
Lead the Online Committee in support of evaluating and recommending effective educational technology in support of online learning.
Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.
Requirements:
Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.; Ed.D.; or Professional Doctorate) is preferred, Master’s degree in related field is required.
Five or more years of administrative and/or operational experience in academic leadership roles.
Thorough experience in teaching and leading within an online educational environment.
Ability to collect, compile, and analyze data utilizing best practices of quantitative and qualitative approaches to pedagogy and instructional design.
Demonstrated ability to assess, design and implement online programs at the undergraduate and graduate level.
Leadership style that works collaboratively with diverse populations of staff, faculty, and students.
Support the College’s mission and vision, as well as accreditation standards and commitment to academic integrity.

"qualifications": "<p><strong>Essential Job Functions: </strong></p>\r\n\r\n<p>The essential functions of the exempt staff position include, but are not limited to: </p>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"1\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Assess, develop and implement policies and procedures to improve quality of online courses. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"2\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Assess and address student satisfaction with online learning, technology, and support. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"3\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Assess and ensure compliance with SACSCOC, Department of Education, and other applicable state, federal, and accreditation requirements. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"4\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Mentor and direct the online advising team. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"5\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Mentor and direct the instructional design team. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"6\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Assess and recommend new technologies to support course quality and online pedagogy. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"7\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Collaborate with Student Success staff on student graduation and retention efforts, especially strategies related to course design and pedagogy. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"8\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Complete a needs assessment of all online instructors. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"9\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Collaborate with deans and program chairs/directors to identify, hire, and evaluate well-qualified adjuncts to teach in online programs. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"10\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Develop and provide continuous training and professional development opportunities for all online faculty. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"11\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Lead the Online Committee in support of evaluating and recommending effective educational technology in support of online learning. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<p>Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time. </p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Requirements: </strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"1\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.; Ed.D.; or Professional Doctorate) is preferred, Master’s degree in related field is required. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"2\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Five or more years of administrative and/or operational experience in academic leadership roles. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"3\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Thorough experience in teaching and leading within an online educational environment. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"4\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Ability to collect, compile, and analyze data utilizing best practices of quantitative and qualitative approaches to pedagogy and instructional design. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"5\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Demonstrated ability to assess, design and implement online programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"6\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Leadership style that works collaboratively with diverse populations of staff, faculty, and students. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n\r\n<ol start=\"7\">\r\n\t<li>\r\n\t<p>Support the College’s mission and vision, as well as accreditation standards and commitment to academic integrity. </p>\r\n\t</li>\r\n</ol>\r\n",
