Position Title: Player’s Assistant – Golf Operations About Shanty Creek Resort Shanty Creek Resorts is committed to providing our guests with a unique “Up North” experience. Department: Golf Operations Reports To: Golf Professionals, Pro Shop Manager, or Director of Golf Classification: Exempt (recommend reviewing – this role is typically non-exempt) Position Summary The Player’s Assistant plays a key role in enhancing the on-course guest experience across all five Shanty Creek golf courses: The Legend, Cedar River, Schuss Mountain, Summit, and Hawk’s Eye. This position focuses on guest service, safety, and pace-of-play support by serving as a friendly and approachable ambassador on the course. Using Shanty Creek’s Four Degrees of Engagement framework, the Player’s Assistant ensures a positive and respectful environment for all players while supporting smooth course operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Promote a welcoming, helpful, and respectful environment for all guests Greet players and offer assistance throughout their round Monitor and support pace of play using the Four Degrees of Engagement: Observe and Greet Inform and Encourage Coach and Redirect Involve Management (as needed) Address pace-of-play and course etiquette concerns with professionalism Conduct regular course patrols to ensure safety and cleanliness Identify and report hazards, incidents, or unusual activity Support golf operations during peak times, tournaments, and events Encourage efficient play while maintaining an enjoyable guest experience Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a golf cart safely Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Strong interpersonal and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in golf operations or customer service Basic knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and terminology Experience in a resort or recreational environment Skills & Competencies Strong customer service and relationship-building skills Clear and effective communication Conflict resolution and problem-solving ability Observational awareness and proactive mindset Team-oriented with a positive and professional demeanor Working Conditions & Environment Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions Requires extended periods of driving and being on the golf course Frequent interaction with guests in a recreational setting Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
