    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lifeguard - Job Description</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span>This position supports the missions and operations of the Orange County Scouting America and the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span>The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.</span></p>\n<p><span>The mission of The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center is to serve all youth of Orange County by providing quality outdoor educational programs that instill in them an appreciation of the outdoors and the environment, teach effective teamwork, instruct about the cultural history of Orange County, and provide access to the natural resources of the surrounding areas.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">The Lifeguard will be responsible for reporting to the Program and Aquatics Directors. This position is primarily responsible for enforcing safety standards and procedures and providing care as necessary in the aquatics facility at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center (IROEC).</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">REQUIREMENTS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Must maintain current certification as a BSA or Red Cross lifeguard or similar certifying body.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Must be at least 16 years old.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to work a varying work schedule</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Desired: Bilingual</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">JOB DUTIES </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Assist in tracking and reporting maintenance needs to the Aquatics Area Director</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Ensure that standards are followed in accordance with American Camp Association and Boy Scouts of Standards.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Able to lead IROEC specific procedures including swim checks, orientation talks, shift rotations, and working alongside other staff.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Enforce all guidelines, procedures, and standards of the aquatics area, IROEC, and OCBSA.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Complete job training including regular in-service training.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Perform rescues and provide care to your level of training through the Red Cross Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Willing to work with guests of all ages and abilities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">Perform other duties as assigned.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\"> PHYSICAL DEMANDS </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 12pt\">The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Must be able to stand or sit outside for long periods of time, and able to withstand exposure to heat, cold, and wind.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Must be able to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and lift objects and equipment up to 35 lbs.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintain personal physical fitness to ensure a rescue can be made in a timely and effective manner.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">The essential functions of this position can be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Equal Opportunity Employer</span></span></p>\n<p>Scouting America, Orange County Council is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to disability or any other protected status.</p>",
