Job Description: The Nurse Clinician works closely with, and under the direction of the Medical Health Officers, the Primary Health Care Manager, and program supervisor and is responsible for the coordination of unit activities of Communicable Disease and Sexual Health Clinic. The Nurse Clinician is an expert clinical nurse in the specialty of Communicable Disease and Sexual Health. In collaboration with Primary Health Care Managers, supervisors/leads/specialists, the Nurse Clinician provides direct client service and is responsible for providing clinical supervision of staff, orientation, certification, continuing education, keeping the Public Health orientation program updated, developing clinical pathways for practice in Communicable Disease, Sexual Health, Immunization and participating in development of policies and procedures relating to Public Health, Primary Health, Immunization, Communicable Disease, and Sexual Health. The incumbent will participate in program planning and evaluation. This role requires expert knowledge in the Saskatchewan Communicable Disease Manual, Saskatchewan Immunization Manual, Saskatchewan Public Health Act, Disease Control Regulations, and local Sexual Health Clinic Public Health Nursing Manual and ensuring services follow the same. This position receives reports of all reportable diseases as identified in the Public Health Act and ensures through the work of others that appropriate action is taken to contain the disease. The Clinician monitors disease trends, provides clinical coordination of disease outbreaks, including notification and contact tracing, consults regarding complex cases and identifies health promotion and prevention strategies to contain and reduce transmission in future occasions. The clinician integrates experience, advanced level skills and knowledge in sexually transmitted infections and blood borne pathogens using nursing theory, population health promotion strategies and principles of adult learning and harm reduction. The Nurse Clinician provides direct client service as well as training and orientation of new staff in several areas including but not limited to: communicable disease investigations and outbreak management, client needs assessment, treatment of STI’s and under the direction of the physician/nurse practitioner, will provide specifically selected contraceptive supplies. Strategies such as policy development, immunization, creating environmental supports, client and staff education/orientation; resource development; and participation in research for the target population are employed for this purpose.

• Valid Class 5 driver's license
Experience
• A minimum of three (3) years experience in public health nursing with at least 2 years experience in communicable disease/sexual health. Additional supervisory experience is an asset.
• Additional supervisory experience is an asset.
• Requires experience in:
- Program/resource development related to needs assessment, planning, program design, implementation, quality assurance and evaluation.
- Teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities.
Education
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with courses in public health nursing is required
• Additional course in supervision and administration is an asset

This role requires expert knowledge in the Saskatchewan Communicable Disease Manual, Saskatchewan Immunization Manual, Saskatchewan Public Health Act, Disease Control Regulations, and local Sexual Health Clinic Public Health Nursing Manual and ensuring services follow the same. This position receives reports of all reportable diseases as identified in the Public Health Act and ensures through the work of others that appropriate action is taken to contain the disease. The Clinician monitors disease trends, provides clinical coordination of disease outbreaks, including notification and contact tracing, consults regarding complex cases and identifies health promotion and prevention strategies to contain and reduce transmission in future occasions. The clinician integrates experience, advanced level skills and knowledge in sexually transmitted infections and blood borne pathogens using nursing theory, population health promotion strategies and principles of adult learning and harm reduction. The Nurse Clinician provides direct client service as well as training and orientation of new staff in several areas including but not limited to: communicable disease investigations and outbreak management, client needs assessment, treatment of STI’s and under the direction of the physician/nurse practitioner, will provide specifically selected contraceptive supplies.
