Engineering Manager, Observability Infrastructure

The Observability team builds the infrastructure that empowers engineers to understand, operate, and improve the Roblox platform and ecosystem. Our team owns the end-to-end observability stack across telemetry, distributed tracing, logging, profiling, storage systems, and developer-facing visualization tools. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the next generation of AI-powered observability platforms. In this role, you will help build intelligent systems that leverage AI to revolutionize CI/CD, testing, and DevOps workflows — enabling engineers to move faster, improve reliability, and operate large-scale distributed systems with greater efficiency and confidence. This is a highly impactful leadership role at the center of Roblox infrastructure. Your work will directly improve developer productivity, platform reliability, and operational excellence across the company. You will partner closely with infrastructure, product engineering, and AI platform teams to shape the future of developer tooling and autonomous operations at scale. You Have 3+ years of engineering management experience with a proven track record of hiring, mentoring, and growing high-performing teams. Strong experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems and data infrastructure. Experience with observability platforms or AI/ML-powered infrastructure is a plus. Strong technical judgment and execution skills, with the ability to balance long-term platform investments with near-term business priorities. Passion for developer experience, platform engineering, and applying AI to improve engineering productivity and operational excellence. Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, product, and infrastructure teams. You Will Partner with stakeholders across the company to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the next generation of observability infrastructure at Roblox. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers building AI-powered observability platforms and intelligent developer infrastructure. Foster a strong engineering culture centered on ownership, execution, innovation, collaboration, and customer impact. Drive initiatives that improve developer productivity, operational excellence, and platform reliability at scale. Help shape the future of AI-driven developer tooling, CI/CD, testing, and DevOps experiences across Roblox. For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page . Annual Salary Range $295,250 — $345,040 USD Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
