Description

INFICON is a leading provider of innovative instrumentation, critical sensor technologies, and Smart Manufacturing/Industry 4.0 software solutions that enhance productivity and quality of tools, processes, and complete factories. These analysis, measurement and control products are essential for gas leak detection in air conditioning/refrigeration and automotive manufacturing. They are vital to equipment manufacturers and end-users in the complex fabrication of semiconductors and thin film coatings for optics, flat panel displays, solar cells and industrial vacuum coating applications. Other users of our vacuum-based processes include the life sciences, research, aerospace, packaging, heat treatment, laser cutting and many other industrial processes. We also leverage our expertise in vacuum technology to provide unique, toxic chemical analysis products for emergency response, security, and environmental health and safety. INFICON is seeking a strategic and commercially rigorous Commodity Manager - Electronics & Contract Manufacturing to lead the ISS Division’s sourcing strategy for electronic components, PCBAs, and contract manufacturing services. In this high-impact role, you will strengthen supplier performance, optimize total cost, mitigate supply risk, and ensure continuity of supply across a complex global electronics value chain supporting high-precision manufacturing. Partnering closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and global Supply Chain teams, you will build the supplier strategies, market intelligence, and commercial frameworks needed to support faster, smarter sourcing decisions. This is an opportunity to make a visible impact within an innovation-led organization where supply continuity, technical excellence, and customer performance are critical drivers of growth and success. Key Responsibilities: Lead the global commodity strategy for electronic components, PCBAs, and contract manufacturing services, ensuring alignment to business growth, cost, quality, and risk objectives. Monitor electronics market trends including pricing, lead times, allocation risk, and capacity constraints, translating insights into proactive sourcing strategies. Build and maintain should-cost models to support negotiations, supplier competitiveness, long-range planning, and total cost optimization. Drive annual cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, supplier-led productivity improvements, value engineering, and BOM optimization. Lead supplier identification, RFx processes, qualification, and onboarding in partnership with Engineering, Quality, and Operations. Manage strategic supplier relationships through scorecards, KPIs, business reviews, and continuous improvement plans. Establish dual-source strategies, manage obsolescence and EOL risk, and strengthen continuity plans for business-critical electronics supply. Negotiate supply agreements, pricing structures, capacity commitments, and commercial terms that protect service, quality, and cost performance. Support NPI programs by ensuring component availability, sourcing readiness, lead-time alignment, and cost competitiveness for new product launches. Partner cross-functionally on supplier audits, corrective actions, ECO impact assessments, AVL expansion, and part standardization initiatives. Maintain sourcing data, contracts, and supplier records within ERP systems while leveraging analytics to support business reviews and category decisions. Education Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related technical field. Required Experience 6–10 years of experience in commodity management or strategic sourcing focusing on electronics components, PCBAs, or contract manufacturing. Strong background managing complex electronics supply chains with long-lead components and multi-level BOMs. Strong technical understanding of electronic components (active, passive, connectors, sensors, PCBAs) and ability to interpret datasheets and AVLs. Experience with CEM / EMS operations, including pricing structures, SMT / PTH processes, and IPC-based quality standards. Advanced ERP systems proficiency supporting procurement and sourcing workflows. Ability to build and apply should-cost models and analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau. Familiarity with qualification processes such as FAI, PPAP, and electronics quality standards. Preferred Experience / Qualifications Master’s degree (MBA or Supply Chain). Preferred experience in semiconductor equipment, analytical instrumentation, medical device electronics, industrial automation, or defense electronics. Experience with SAP MM and related procurement modules. Certifications such as CPSM, CPM, IPC CIS, CQE, CSCP, or CPIM. Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated success in supplier development, cost reduction, and cross-functional collaboration. Ability to excel in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The expected salary range for this position is between $95,000 and $140,000 per year.  The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit-sharing bonus with a target of 10% as well as 401K match up to 8% (vesting schedule). A relocation package may be available for qualified candidates. INFICON provides a dynamic work environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our employees experience ongoing green initiatives, flexible work hours, and a variety of health and wellness programs.
