Description Palletizer/Strapper Operator Pay Rate: $21.50 Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time (2nd shift 3pm-11pm Monday-Friday) Physical Location: 128 Crews Drive Columbia, SC 29210 The Job You Will Perform: Set up and operation of the strapper; straps bundles/units of product in a timely manner; attains and attaches load tags to every unit making sure pads are straight and easily available. Ensures all units meet conformity standards (neat in appearance, no noticeable defects, etc.) Makes final quality check of units before they go to Shipping and/or communicate effectively if problems are detected. Cleans and maintains strapper heads; keeps strapper rolls filled; checks for trim in the units. Trains others on all aspects of strapper operation. Keeps work area clean and free of debris; empties dumpster; also perform any other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have demonstrated the ability to perform each normal duty satisfactorily in this classification and all lower classifications in this line of progression. Also, the ability to learn to perform the normal duties in the next classification in this line of progression. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret written documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, factory orders, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (English and Metric systems), using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read an English and Metric system tape measure. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform normal job functions. While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. An individual is occasionally required to stoop, or crouch. An individual must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the normal job functions. While performing the duties of this job, an individual regularly works near moving mechanical parts. An individual is occasionally exposed to humid conditions and temperature variations.
