Reports To:  Vice President, Human Resources Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt Employment Status:   Full Time, Year Round Wage Range: $45,000–$60,000 annually/Salary Basis  ($21.63–$28.85/hr. hourly equivalent) Minimum Age: 21 Background Check Required: Yes Driver Verification Required: Yes Position Summary : Work with and support department managers across Schweitzer Mountain Resort and in collaboration with Alterra’s Risk & Safety teams to develop, deliver, and support hazard analysis, communication, loss‑prevention and safety initiatives. Focus areas include training, documentation, incident investigation, corrective action planning, and compliance support. The goal is to reduce injuries to employees and guests year‑round through constantly building on Schweitzer’s safety culture resort wide. Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities: Safety Program Development — Create, deliver, maintain and track safety training sessions, materials, and documentation across all departments. Facility Safety Walkthroughs — Conduct regular inspections, identify hazards, communicate findings with Leadership, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely follow‑up on the completion of all required changes and repairs. Incident Investigation — Lead or support investigations for employee and guest incidents, including documentation, root‑cause analysis, and follow‑up actions. Compliance Program Support — Assist with OSHA, State, and other compliance initiatives. These programs include hazard communication, fall protection, hearing protection, respirator programs, driver safety, snowmobile & ATV safety, fire safety, food safety, and more. Safety Committee Leadership — Coordinate and lead the resort’s Safety Committee. Insurance Liaison — Serve as the primary contact for workers’ compensation and liability insurance loss‑prevention resources. OSHA Recordkeeping — Maintain OSHA 300 logs and support return‑to‑work/light‑duty processes. Patrol Collaboration — Work with Ski Patrol to ensure accurate and timely guest incident reporting and documentation. Provide support for incident investigations and subsequent claims processes. Cross ‑ Department Partnership — Maintain strong working relationships with all departments, in particular HR, Mountain Operations, Ski Patrol, Housekeeping, F&B, and Snowsports School. Budget Responsibility – Work with Leadership to identify budget needs relating to safety & compliance. Follow standard budgetary & expense management procedures. Department Collaboration & Relationship Management – Establish supportive relationships with managers of all departments in order to understand the unique safety hazards inherent in the work areas, identify and deploy resources to address safety needs within each department. Safety Accountability – Notify Leadership of compliance issues and communicate with managers for accountability on safety related issues. Secondary Responsibilities : Maintain and expand knowledge of risk‑management principles, trends, and techniques. Seek opportunities for ongoing professional development. Perform additional duties as assigned. Conduct ongoing hazard identification and monitoring across on-mountain terrain, facilities, and village areas to mitigate risks to guests and employees. Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable) : Number of employees supervised: __0__ Scheduling and assigning work- No Training- Yes Salary actions- No Disciplinary actions- No Performance review- Once per season (annual review) plus mid-year progress check. Hiring/Termination - No Specific Job Skills : License/Certifications - Valid driver’s license (insurable); Technical - Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Effective communication and training abilities Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to analyze trends and documentation Strong interpersonal skills with staff, managers, and guests Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize Risk Management Information Systems and Workers’ Compensation insurance portals. Physical Capabilities - Ability to ski or snowboard at advanced/expert level Ability to mountain bike at intermediate/advanced level Ability to walk/hike uneven terrain Ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently Additional - Motivated self‑starter with ability to inspire others Ability to maintain professional, harmonious relationships Ability to learn resort facilities and operations in detail Periodically travel to industry-related conferences and safety summits to support ongoing professional development and best practice adoption Ability to work a varying schedule, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs                                  Education/Related Experience : Minimum education required -     High school diploma or equivalent.
